Does not matter whose team it is. If you are scoring 30 and you are still losing by -14, it is a testament to the teambuilding. Not like Denver were world beaters on the road being shorthanded and such.
I don’t think he is a savant, I think he is the third or fourth best player on a really good team… which is why he was targeted by the Rockets and Morey when they had Harden and Westbrook. I think having him on a bad team with poor leadership like the Rockets is a bad fit unless you feed him the ball a lot… which the Rockets aren’t interested in doing now. His motivation and desires don’t match with the Rockets. He wants numbers and/or a big contract and with his role diminishing with the Rockets, that isn’t a good fit. From what I have been told he lacks focus and gets distracted and loses interest sometimes. I don’t think he is a terribly mature young man either. A team can have one guy like Wood on their team and deal with chemistry issues. A team cannot have three of those types of players like the Rockets did to start the season. As for Porter, he is arguably the most talented Rockets player but he isn’t mentally or emotionally ready to be an NBA player. It takes years for people to mentally/emotionally improve under normal circumstances and Porter at 21 years old is being asked to play in the NBA and become suddenly mature in the span of months and that is very unlikely and I would argue not fair to him as a person. So here we are.
Very good take. I agree for the most part, although, I wouldn’t give up on Porter quite yet. People need to take personal responsibility, but in the team concept leadership is very important and once this “good cop, bad cop” stuff was verified, that sealed the deal for me. Silas is a terrible coach for this team. Porter should get another chance, and Wood should be told to improve his play if he wants to be traded or he can sit just like Wall.
I thought this looked cool. He’s definitely mimicking some of Harden’s moves. Has to get more consistent with knocking these down.
I think he can be a nice SF and maybe score 20 points a game if he concentrate on THAT position not Point Guard....WAKE UP HOUSTON!
Whew, well that was a good run, but I guess we have to shut down the thread now. I would have thought perhaps Lebron or Kevin Love or any balanced and informed poster might have had the last word when they said how incredibly talented but young and immature KPJ is, but they all forgot to close the thread. Good ole’ juanming would never make that mistake after his nuanced analysis.
He can be as good as his willingness to not let his ego get in the way. Good basketball player. Special talent. Has a chance to be great.
