Its no coincidence that in every game McHale is wired with a mic, the only thing he says is. "PLAY HARDER!" "INTENSITY UP!" "GRAB THE BOARDS!" If that is coaching, then I could coach the Rockets right now.
Not defending McHale, but how many times does it have to be said that the TV networks aren't allowed to broadcast detailed strategy out of timeouts? If you bothered taking any notice of the other coaches that are mic'd up, they all say the same sorts of things.
They don't have to edit anything out for McHale's timeouts. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if they asked him to say a couple more cliches so they'd have enough material for his insidetrax.
