This might be a humorous thread but this is one of the biggest logical fallacies I've ever heard of and it pisses me off everytime I hear it. Being a great basketball player =/= being a great coach. Heck Michael Jordan can't even draft the right players and he was the greatest of all time.
Getting outboarded by one of the worst teams in the WC (Suns) - with seeding on the line? 14 minutes is plenty for Asik...
Being a great basketball player means you know a hell of a lot more about the game than your average Clutchfan. Especially one who's just jumped on board the bandwagon.
Daryl Morey never played basketball at a professional level in his life. One of the best GMs in the league. I'm not saying Clutchfans know more than NBA retirees in the nuances of the game... but I'm just saying just because a player played basketball in the NBA doesn't mean that they are automatically assumed to be great coaches. It takes more than basketball knowledge to coach.
man this josephnicks guy... I wonder how people would react if I posted memes here implying that all Chandler Parsons fans are bandwagon white males with little to no basketball knowledge or all Harden fans are homer black guys.
And being a coach involves a lot more than just x's and o's and calling subs at "the right time". A good coach is a leader of men, as Morey likes to say. Who do you think is responsible for getting the youngest team in the league to play HARD and with CONFIDENCE THEY CAN WIN every single night? They could play like that rabble down in Sacramento. All talent and no hustle. But they don't. That's good coaching. Who do you think is responsible for the tangible improvement shown over the season by Asik, Parsons, Smith and even Lin? Do you think this happened magically, or do you think perhaps they improved because of the things they work on in practice? I think McHale has been a solid coach for a young, inconsistent team. The players are getting better and they'll improve more as a result of getting to the playoffs. I don't think that McHale is as bad as you think. That doesn't mean I don't scream at him during the game either, but I figure he's been around the game a lot longer and a lot more intensely than I have, so maybe, just maybe, he might know what he is doing...
