I actually want Houston to trade all three of those players... I don't want them to trade Kevin Martin, though.
I don't think Lowry/Shane or Lowry/Lee are enough if the front-court is Scola and a very undersized, non rim protector in Chuck Hayes.
We always hear something like..yeah Martin can drop 30 on anyone but the other guy he's guarding is going to go off for 90 pts. That's completely false. as a poster in the previous Martin thread pointed out, the point differential between Kmart and his matchup goes in favor of Martin. I'm fine with sending him to Chicago just to stop Miami from reaching the finals. Rose and Martin would be sick and in the NBA there is such thing as star by association. Maybe chicago will give us a couple of first round picks for the year 2019 and 2020. Gotta think BIG with the assets.
Exactly, Lowry/Lee/Shane could take the better players but they can't really help Kevin Martin out. A rim protector can however.
... Yeah of course. I was referring to the fact you usually cannot hide a perimeter defender with other perimeter defenders. You can hide him with a big man. As shown by the Orlando Magic
trade kevin, but I want a lot in return. kevin's upside is 0 and now without adelman kevin will suffer in his production. time to trade k-mart and start rebuilding
That makes him sound so one-dimensional. Steve Novak is a fantastic shooter, but because of his poor defense he could only get on the court for 7mpg. Kevin Martin is a fantastic scorer, but because of his poor defense he could only get on the court for 32mpg? If you're already playing him 32 minutes a game, I don't see the problem in bumping that to 38-40 like the rest of the all-stars play. Really, he's no worse defender than Carmelo Anthony. If I'm Daryl Morey, I'm doing my best to market my team in a way that will attract the elite talent. Increasing Martin's minutes to that of normal all-stars would likely put his scoring at 26 PPG. This, theoretically, should result in more publicity for the Rockets best offensive player and thus make him more attractive to team up with. I think Martin will end up seeing an increase in minutes this year.. balancing Martin/Shane/Lee/Budinger was tough on Adelman, but I think the right thing to do may have been to pick three of the above and give a larger share of minutes to Martin. Hopefully we see that in 2011-2012.
Kevin Martin should play around 36-38 mpg. He's about the only thing that makes this team somewhat relevant. Trading him for only high picks is a clear sign of rebuilding. If that's the case, no point in keeping Scola. I feel this team as constructed is pretty decent, keep the core of Lowry, Martin, and Scola together, the rest could be dealt for a player that can contribute to the core. SOMEONE PLEASE see something in that Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger! They are the missing pieces your team needs. AZ wildcats dynamic duo ftw!
martin is way too valuable to the rockets offense at this time. it is unlikely that they could get an equal value in return. there is other players that they need to shop around before martin.
