Martin draws alot fouls.Something I havent seen when kobe gets here. The problem is when you duel him up with battier and the opponent superstar is guarding battier just chilling. I would like to see ariza/bud and martin get guarded by the other superstar, making him work on the defensive end.
ultimately the fts in Fmart's game are what me made like the deal. Frankly I think Martin still isn't 100% from his injury, when you have a quirky shot like his just a simple change (like you don't jump as high as you used to because your ankle hurts) can dramatically affect the shot's trajectory. I think injuries are messing with his shots, and will continue to mess his shot up until he recovers this offseason. What I really like though is Kmart doesn't stop searching for Fts. It means even if his shot deserts him he isn't totally useless. The fts will make sure to mitigate some of the shots he misses, like for example today he had a really awful shooting night, but then you look at his score and he reached double digits despite connecting on only 3 fgs. Simply amazing
Previous no #12 = rick adelman, rafer alston and now kevin martin. But somehow KMartin somehow morphed into reefer and his accuracy became Trevors ........... i hope this isnt true. I am sick and tired seeing guys that we got from a trade always have their shooting accuracy goes downhill. Wheres KMartin true shooting percentage of 60% -_- I hope he doesnt leave it in the Queensland.
1st game isn't bad, as long as he is getting assists and rebounds, its not a bad game. Going to the FT line is what Landry does, so if he gets his shooting touch from 3s going, the Rockets will win a lot more games than with Landry.
Too early to 'judge' Kevin ... give him some time. His shooting was bad, but he brought some extra energy along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals ... so not bad at all.
Thanks for sharing Being unable to watch any rockets game, I always go to Clutchfans for my info on the daily game. I'm not expecting much from this season however, since Yao is out.But these new Rockets kind of revive my new interest. I want to know how they are doing.Apparently, Kevin Martin ain't doing bad for his first game here and this spell good for the future. Now I want to see the new rookie play.
he looked very comfortable with the ball he drove easily to the basket creating contact and seems to become one of the most dangerous backcourts with AB who makes the things easier to him he missed a lot of shots but it's just the debut i'm expecting great things happening with him if healthy of course  the only concern to me is Rockets defense, they suck these last games
He looked fine to me on offense, but on defense, he seemed to either coast or not know where to be on the floor, or both. He will definitely have to step up his effort there. I hope Battier can kind of direct him where to be on defense and what to do.
Jordan thought the same thing about Kwame Brown, but Brown lost all his confidence and never recovered.
He seems poor at fighting through screens, looks like a rag doll when he bumps the screener. He doesn't seem to have defensive intensity either, 90% of defense is focus and effort, he's been in the league a while so that's probably nothing you'll change. I also don't remember the last time I've seen a basketball player get a leg cramp, see it all the time in football. He got one late in the game and it made me wonder about his fragility. Can't see giving him a B for this game. Worrel and crew even said at the end of the broadcast that KM just needs to put this (bad) game behind him. I'd give him a C-.
Well if not Jordan Hill at least Jared Jeffries could play some mean defense around the basket. Unless David Andersen is hitting his shot he is worthless, Jared Jeffries is a big guy who could at least draw some charges around the basket, and maybe block a few shots. You really see how much we miss the big fella on D this year.
The thing I love about Kevin's game is that he has ability. He has handles, he can shoot, he has speed, he can get to the line, and can create his own shot, etc. Unfortunately, his shooting is in a huge slump right now (not just this game, but this year), but he has talent, and is efficient even without shooting well. It's nice to have a guy who has talent and we know is capable of doing all the things we need. Contrast him with Ariza, a guy with potential and some raw athleticism who tries things that are outside the realm of his ability (like his ball handling, shooting non-set shots, etc). I prefer Martin, because even though they didn't fall, he took good shots, set guys up, and limited turnovers. I also loved him driving to the rim. Contrast him with a guy like T-Mac who when he was here and his jumper wasn't falling would often continue to jack up shots (no hate, as I was a huge Mac fan... I'm just saying). Martin slashes a lot, and honestly could have gotten a lot more FT's (and general fouls drawn for anyone who saw him thrown to the ground... that "turnover" was BS). He overall seems like a smart player with ability and a perfect fit for both Yao and Adelman. Whether or not that translates into production, we'll see, but I love his game, and haven't screamed at his decision making... yet.
I see the same thing as you do. I do give him credit for getting some steals, passing and rebounding. His shot will come around, but he does seem injury prone to me.
