Martin was not involved in the offense at all at the end of the game. So how do you expect for him to have any type of rhythm when he DOES get the ball for the first time in about 6 minutes? Brooks was hogging tonight, but only 2-10 for three. I think the most three points shots Brooks should attempt is around 5, he just doesn't shoot a high enough percentage to attempt more than that...
Martin is a very passive player. When he got the ball in the 4th quarter and OT, he just continued passing it around the perimeter. That has been a problem late in game recently. He becomes too passive and it forces Brooks to try and do too much by himself late in the game. martin needs to start trying to take pressure off him. However, I would put more blame tonight on Shane, that is the worst game I have ever seen him play.
Kevin is a system player in that he works best if you run a play for him so he knows exactly what is going to happen. If you expect him to catch the ball off an adhoc play and then do something good with it, he's not really that type of player.
Why? Well because he is shooting about 39% and leads the league in 3-pointers made. I wouldn't exactly say that's a poor percentage. I partially agree with you though. He should not be given the green light to jack up threes at every opportunity. Limiting him to five a game is ridiculous though. I mean he has had plenty of games this season where he has MADE 5+ 3-pointers in just one game. He needs to realize that he needs to get his teammates more involved when he is cold though.
Why is this thread turnin into another brooks thread? there are plenty... This is about Martin, and if there is anything he can and has to improve, it's his defense.
That's what I've been saying, I guess I can't communicate myself thoroughly on this board, but what I meant was that if a players goes 2-8 or something, then look to pass in the final portion of the game. I would give him about 5 shots to gain his rhythm, and if he makes 2 or 3 of those first 5 or so shots, then keep shooting. But if he makes none or only 1 of those first 5, then look to differ.
exactly and that was why i think he struggled playing with tyreke. people think of martin and his points and think he's a great 1-on-1 player and that's not the case. if he doesn't juke his man with his initial move, he's not going to get a shot off most likely.
Yea he needs to try to get his teammates involved and in a rhythm early in the game before thinking about himself. Nobody really got a chance to heat up tonight besides Brooks.
What bothers me most is his body language. While Brooks is playing World's Greatest Chucker at the end of games, Martin just idly watches. Clap for the ball. Demand it in timeouts. I know it's a little early for him to do such but I mean come on!
Aaron brooks is to be blamed. He looks like steve francis out there dribbling the ball for 19 seconds and jacking up some crap.... but Once lowry and ariza get back the team will once again look different and you bet ya...alot freakin better than this. It still amazes me that we stick with these nba teams for the what we have. We dont even have a center for god sakes and we are still sticking with these teams. We are going to be scary good once healthy going into next season, book it.
Everybody blaming Brooks, lol. Martin had the chances to make something happen but instead he passes the ball, and it eventually makes its way to Shane, who took the shot. That should tell you something about Brooks and Martin.
