The "x-factor" was...... he was guarded by Derek Fisher. There was no clutch factor or anything. Brooks received a matchup incredibly in his favor, and he took advantage. Is the fact that Tyson Chandler had a field day against us a sign of his possessing this x-factor, or the fact that our interior d is utter crap? The latter. So it's the same thing with the Lakers and PG defense. And I am starting to agree with leeb on Brooks and Sacramento. I think if we don't trade him, Sacramento will make him an outrageous offer ( I'm thinking 10+), we'll let him go, and they will go on to utterly regret giving Brooks that much. Bottomline is, there is no freaking way Brooks, with the season he is having, is more of a keeper then the best player on this squad.
Martin is what he is...Brooks is what he's not supposed to be...And this thread is pointless because we settle for mediocrity until something BIG happens....Which generally is a mistake 3 years down the road...
Please. Dude is great for what he gets paid at. Martin and Scola are keepers. Trade anyone else. And Patterson is a thug ? Good one. Talking out of your arse, eh? I wonder how many games you have seen besides last nights game.
To each his own, Ronny. HOWEVER, you seriously quote he has a LOW basketball IQ?? You sir, are delusional. Have you not seen his stats all season?? Last night. +8of15 fg's for 53% +10of11 free throws for 91%. +4 three pointers. +30 points. +4 rebounds. +4 assists. +1 steal. +1 block. ....but of course 3 turnovers. =EFFICIENCY Scratch that, your post isn't even categorized as a knee-jerking one. I like the enthusiasm, but try using any other argument. I hope I helped clear up that misguided negativity of yours.
So Brooks didn't take any bad shots in OT? But I guess KMart playing tough d on Kobe in the last seconds of regulation and forcing him to miss potential game winners means nothing.
Is it possible to build up a serious contender with a series of well-calculated, well-researched, but ultimately low risk basketball maneuvers? And without high draft picks where one can cheaply pick up high-upside players at low risk? This is what the Rockets have been trying to do since Morey took over -- what is the biggest gamble he has taken? -- and to this point it is quite fair to question this aspect of his approach. Now that the safety cord to Yao is more or less severed, bunts and singles won't cut it. He'll have to take some big swings.
Kmart got the ball picked from him a lot when he drove into traffic in the 4th quarter and OT. Needs to not try to overdo it.
He's high efficiency when he's entering into his shooting motion. But he probably has the highest rate of WTF? turnovers on the team.
Battier is the problem. He is a great guy, does a lot for the community which is great! But last i checked, that ish does not win rings. I'm tired of losing. I'm tired of having the Spurs and Mavs being ahead of us. When in the hell are we going to get a legit SF who can score. He's obviously lost a step on D. He's the biggest liability we have on offense. Dude can't hit a shot to save his life anymore. For god sakes, Chuck is scoring more than him. We need to wake up and make a push for a SF who can hoop. Until then, im afraid we are doomed to mediocrity!!!
So basically, you're pissy that Morey wasn't able to just walk over to the contender store and grab us a few titles after 2/3 of the team's cap just vanished via Yao/Tracy injury? I wish Martin was a great defender too, but you don't have to be a great defender to be a great player on a great team IF! IF! IF the right pieces are around you (see: Parker, T). Rebuilding isn't magical. You have to put together a team of good pieces and hopefully a franchise guy. At least we've got the pieces. The franchise guy is a work in progress.
Pretty much nailed it, I'll give him until the deadline to see what the guy can do with all the assets he has at his disposal before passing judgement but I'm not liking his overall vision as of right now. To much has changed with the team, and the NBA as a whole, not to change with it. On Martin, people get WAY to caught up with the ppg and efficiency stats. He is an ELITE scorer that does almost nothing else really well and that would be fine if he had a star or stars around him. Martin is reminding me of Peja Stojaković, great scorer in his day but did very little else well. I would move him but for none of the reasons the OP gave, his value is high and could bring back a hefty return. Unless we can get a number #1 guy then Martin does us very little good at this time.
The man has a right to relieve himself when the numbers are right ... the M word is that a first here ?
Dark skin and tatoos don't make you a gangster... I think Battier and Hayes are way tougher than those guys combined.
Did you watch the game last night? Martin was actually gaurding Kobe most of the time that they were in the game to gether. And to my suprise, Martin actually held his own. Nobody in this legue is a "kobe stopper", but Martin did pretty well against him. His 1 on 1 defense has been above average these last 7-8 games.
"Patrick Patterson. Terrence Williams. Aaron Brooks. These are the professional thugs who will rise to the occasion for the Rockets in the future." You lost me there. It's unclear what you mean by "thug", but PP hasn't played enough to know how good he might be, same with TW. AB is a thug if you mean, "not afraid to jack up shots to get his stats." AB has become a chucker, pure and simple. As others have said, AB is a poor man's KM, but KM taking shots actually helps our team win. I like KM and think without him our team would be ****e (replace him and Landry from last year and we'd be horrible). However, I'm willing to trade him for a star player who helps us win games. And I really want to trade AB because I've seen him be ineffective for us for too many games.
