And it was a little too late. You still have to be a professional and play the game you're being paid millions to do. Too many mentally weak players on our team.

How the hell did he strain his shoulder?

I'd hope it gets better in, oh, just under 4 days.

OK OK...I am off the Martin Bandwagon. If he does not like this offense, trade him. I don't hate the guy, but he just isn't a good fit for this team anymore.

He's a different player now, he's scared to even shoot the ball.

It would be like defending AB or something.

To hell with that. Keep Parsons and give them Bud, or someone else. Parsons is a keeper.

Boy Dell Demps must be sending Stern thank you emails almost daily. He could have had

Odom, Martin, Scola, and Dragic instead of Kaman(expiring), Gordon(potentially expiring/RFA), draft pick, Aminu

At least Demps is getting a draft pick out of the deal that actually happened, and salary cap freedom.

Can some1 pull his numbers of home vs. away again, I feel the disparity must be at an all-time high for an NBA player. This is ridiculous and for a starting SG to get under 20 minutes consistently should tell you something.

He hasn't had a split like that in previous years, until you look at his last year as a King. It's not the courts or atmosphere or anything like that.

Honestly, I blame McHale for breaking his game. When they canned Adelman, Morey said they were keeping the offense, but they obviously haven't done that. Now, one of the biggest pieces of the team is almost worthless. Obviously, great players transcend these problems and find a way to produce. Martin isn't a great player, but he had been an effective and efficient player in the Adelman offense and they've squandered all that value (like they did with Brooks, incidentally).

The next step seems inevitable: trade him to Minn for pennies on the dollar. He becomes a key part of a playoff Twolves team under Adelman.

It's not the system -- he's just not getting the p***y foul calls that he was getting before and he doesn't know how to adjust his game. He's lived off of that for his entire career.

I cringe every time I see him sacrifice a good look at the basket to try to draw a foul, just as I cringe every time Scola tries to play defense by taking a charge.

JV, not that I entirely disagree with you... BUT,

what does any of that have to do with Hove vs. Away split? I've asked this in other threads about McHale, but if the problems with some players are about coaching, then why are the results so strange?

McHale is running more of Adelman's old offense at home, and less on the road? It doesn't make sense? Same can be said about Scola? Is it McHale's system and coaching and rotations that seem to make Scola less and less effective as the game goes on?

Maybe there is something with McHale's coaching, system and/or rotation, and doing it differently home vs. away, but it doesn't pass my eye test. He seems to coach similarly - whether you like his style of coaching / playcalling (or lack thereof) or not, it seems to at least be consistent. KMart is the one playing inconsistently.

This seems like a much more likely explanation. Look at the FTA disparity. He's getting to the line a lot more at home. It doesn't make up for the entire difference, but I think he gets a lot more comfortable, earlier in games, when he gets calls his way. So he's still getting more of those BS calls at home. And that's fair. That's part of the home court advantage after all. He can't adjust on the road when he isn't getting those calls early.

Must have strained his shoulder dodging his man on defense.

What I don't get is how players like this do not understand that they lower their value in the long run through the lack of professionalism.

At least Scola, despite the atrocious rebounding, attempts to be relevant on the court.

You're right, you'd think he'd suck at home just as much. But if the problem is essentially that he doesn't feel comfortable in the offense and he's not being put in a good position to score by the offensive set, at least some of that can be offset by the comfort of the home floor and a favorable crowd and refereeing.

Anyway, it is obviously incumbent on Kevin Martin to find a way to succeed, whether it's McHale or the rule change or whatever that knocked him off his game. I just lament the fact that we've found another way to turn gold into lead before we had a chance to spend it.

    Really? Sounds very ClutchCity/Clutchfansesque.....

Martin would have value to Orlando, playing off a guy like Bynum .....
Don't get me wrong. I can't stand the guy's contract, game, or mental make up .....want him gone yesterday.

And it better be a damn good deal if we're even contemplating moving Chandler.

Great point. We might has well hang on to Martin and Scola - they will probably get their mojo back after the deadline is passed, and we can make a run up to the 6th seed or so. We probably need to wait to the offseason if we want to get anything in return for them. Plus, it looks like not many trades are going to happen until then.

This has been looking like a lost season, unless we can magically pull a first round playoff upset.
