If we want to be a lottery team. With yao done, we really need to rebuild or get a super star or something. If Kmart is your best player you are screwed.

Not to get too detailed, but what kind of bigs do you have in mind? It's extremely difficult to find a decent shotblocking big. I almost think it would be easier to try and build a team similar to the one that took the Lakers to 7.

Aaron Brooks with two stud defenders at the wings. (Iguodala and Tayshaun) for a random example...

Obviously a big like Roy Hibbert or Brook Lopez could make us very scary, but in reality, what are our options If we decide to build around Brooks and Martin? If Yao can't be counted on?

i like k-mart but he is not a closer.

closers can get their shot of anytime... their pretty much chuckers.

martin gets his points within the flow of the offense during the course of the game. iso ball 1-on-1 is not his strength.

Not sure if we're agreeing or disagreeing. But...

I've always felt that you watch the game and then go go see if the stats bear out what you've observed. I've always felt like Morey cranked up the arithmatic software with the expectation that reality would follow.

Just me being me....you "see"? :)

Higher than Jordan? Hard to believe.

I don't think we acquired Martin for his late-game heroics -- I don't recall Morey or anyone else with the Rockets saying that. He has the ability to put the team in the penalty faster, along with Yao, and its always nice to be in the penalty in the final 5 minutes of a tight game.

Of course, we need to add a superstar. What I meant was that Martin and Scola are the keepers on this roster.

Is hard to score 2 on 5.

With Hayes, Battier and Kyle there is no space out there to score.

You can't keep Martin and Scola and get a superstar, that's what sucks...

It wasn't a good offensive lineup, granted, but that's a lame excuse. Just look at the way we executed in the last 5 minutes. So many careless turnovers and rushed shots.

I heard the stat in a Morey interview shortly after the deal went down. I heard it just like I heard the Van Gundy interview that it was Morey that brought the Battier deal from Jerry West to the Rockets.

I don't care who believes me or who wants a link...I know what I heard.

If we're talking about getting into the penalty quicker, then the number of fouls per floortime minutes committed by Chuck Hayes is just as noteworthy. It's probably improved since VG's departure. But Hayes used to be all alone in NBA history with personal fouls per minutes.

Because you are trying to execute with flawed offensive players, and what is more....the Wizards KNOW this......

Late in games you need someone that can get his own quality shot if necessary.

The Rockets have exactly ONE of those guys....in Aaron Brooks...they have no one else that is capable.....they are going to struggle late, most nights unless they have 5 offensive threats..(or more than 2) and a committment to playing the system...to the bitter end.

Cool. Maybe someone else heard it and can provide the link. Lots of members on this board, and I'm sure there are dozens that would have heard what you heard.

Well we had a 6'10" one that was on the bench in the entire 2nd half.

And who was it that wanted Whiteside in the draft this year....?????

    ;)

Luis Scola and Yao Ming can get their own shots.

The problem with Aaron Brooks is that he can not do anything If his jumper is off, because he does not get to the line consistently at any point in the game. The most common trait of a closer. Bobby Jackson could get off his own shot, but you just had to hope that he was hot.

Anyone else notice our god awful boxouts today? Dear Lord! Dear Darwin!

No they can't someone has to pass them the ball.....that is my point.

If you have Lowry or Ish, teams are going to double team Luis and Yao....they won't ever touch it.

That is why AB is so important....and that is why I have been battling with the AB haters because they just don't get it.

I think Adelman has trust in Battier's ability to execute in his offense at the end of games. He's talked about Battier being a clutch player in the past and having a knack for making big shots. If Budinger wasn't in such a shooting slump, perhaps he would have finished the game instead.

We were losing with AB. We're gonna lose without him.

The bottom line is that we need to add a star to the roster.
