McHale knew talent. The problem for him is he stuck with Flip Saunders for too long and he had a hard time keeping talent.
Didnt want to start a new thread... From 'Timberwolves have work to do if they hope to keep Kevin Love', Rose, Love, Westbrook have thought about playing together [rquoter]Then there is this: Love told SI.com that during last summer's World Championship in Turkey he had conversations with USA Basketball teammates Russell Westbrook (who played with Love at UCLA) and Derrick Rose about the possibility of someday teaming up in the NBA. Oklahoma City's Westbrook and Chicago's Rose are also permitted to sign extensions this summer. "We all talk about playing together," Love said. "It's fun to talk about. When the time comes, we'll assess the situation and figure it out."[/rquoter]
he does have surprisingly good footwork and footwork can be worked on. if anything he still needs to develop post moves like a good jump hook. Luis is one of the better post players and he has neither athleticism or speed. Yao had no speed either. Kevin has shown the ability to get better..when he first came into the league he shed a lot of weight (compared to when he played at UCLA) and then he developed his jump shot even more his second year in the league to extend out to the NBA 3. this past summer he was part of the USA mens basketball team so he didnt get to work on his game as much as the previous summers but like most of the members of Team USA he came back with something to apply to his game. Its just a matter of time till he starts to work on the other aspects of his game. If he works on his defense to a point where he becomes an above average (not necessarily elite/DPOY type guy but someone who can hold their own) then you probably will have the best PF in the league for years to come -- (i am well aware of Griffin but Love's ability to make the pass and smarter basketball play I give the nod over griffin who right now relies more on his freakish athleticism) great to see him play so well sucks to see him play in minnesota
Kevin Love with 20 and 20 against the Spurs... his 25th straight double-double. He's averaging 23 and 19 in 4 games against the Spurs, the best team in basketball. Get this man to LA for the All-Star game.
You never know. In 3-5 years after Westbrook's extension (that he will sign this summer) expires, maybe.
While I agree his speed can be worked on... You can't average nearly 16 rpg WITHOUT excellent footwork. He's also deceptively quick. Not fast but quick. I think he could learn a lot from Dream. It's not always about brute strength, speed or athletic ability. Sometimes the know how and having a knack for naturally grasping things outweighs all else. If there's one thing Love is great at it's finding ways to make the game easier for him, picking things up quickly and making the game look easy. He's a Natural. Been that way since I followed him in his HS days.
Then you must be familiar with this gem: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OZpljX-jnFk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OZpljX-jnFk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
^^^ Oh yes. Made big time news in the local metro area at the time. You can even see the natural instincts and know how that I was talking about from that little clip. That's a 6'10 center taking a calculated risk and playing the passing lanes like a wing player and taking it to the house.
Love was making the Portland sports page as an 8th grader. He was already studying the footwork of the greats.
Beast Mode engaged! 26 points and 15 rebounds per game. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kevin_love/index.html
