For LeBron next season, I think it's between the Lakers, Rockets and Spurs. We can hope the Rockets remove themselves from the list by winning it all this year.
Exactly! And the kicker with the Rockets is they don't just have 2 stars waiting here, 1 of them is CP3. He will EASILY be able to give LeBron all of the good intel on why Houston is the right choice. That's huge. LeBron might not come, but it wont be for lack of setting the stage to give it a try.
This whole situation reminds me a little of the off-season where we got Dwight. The season leading up to that, everybody knew that Dwight would be a FA, and that his LA tenure was not going as planned. At the same time, the Rockets were showing that they could very well be competitive in a stacked Western Conference, James Harden was coming into his own as a bona fide superstar, and we had real stability with McHale and Morey (my how things change). For basketball reasons, Houston definitely made the most sense for Dwight, and most media members even acknowledged that. However, as we all know, these things don't always come down to purely basketball reasons. Ultimately, Dwight did end up choosing Houston because he felt like this was the best place to continue his career, and try and build a legacy of winning. Now, LeBron doesn't need to establish his legacy. What he needs to do is continue his legacy, and win more championships to get into the conversation with MJ and Kobe. Golden State stands firmly in his way. But here are the Rockets again, proving everyone wrong, showing that a CP3-Harden marriage might be one of the greatest backcourts ever assembled, and again with an incredibly symbiotic Coach-GM partnership that is proving to be very stable. It really feels like this thing could happen, just like it did with Dwight.
