A power forward who can stretch the floor with his lethal 3-pt shooting and who also happens to be the best rebounder in the league isn't a good fit for our team? LOL i give up.
if you watch twolves games instead of espn highlights of rebounds its easy to see he has alot of issues with his game. He is possible the worst starting defensive PF in the league, ballhogs, low % shot attempts etc
Last year I watched a lot of Wolves games (favorite team next to the Rockets). Is Kevin love perfect? ofcourse not. His defense is indeed suspect (not the worst, do not forget David Lee and D-Mo). His low % shot attempts are imho more a result of him having to create more shots than he should. When he plays with Harden he wouldn't need to create as much. I think he is the ideal PF with Harden and Asik (unfortunatly we will probably lose Asik if we trade for him, since i think the wolves will lose Pekovic).
Obviously if he's on the market you go after him. But right now he's not. He may not be on the market for another season. He's signed through 14/15. And they wanna keep him. Only way they move him is if he starts pitching a fit in Minny. That's not likely to happen for at least a year. And even if it did, they have through next season to play him, try to calm him down, and get him committed long term. His trade value won't start to dissipate until after next season and then only if he makes it clear to Minny that he is exercising his opt-out after 14/15. So, Love is most likely a ways from happening...if ever. What Morey has to do is keep building this team out with an eye on the future and the possibility of acquiring him in the future. What pieces can he accumulate that could turn a deal with Minnesota? Well, this off season is decision time with Pek. Are they gonna re-sign him or let him walk? If they re-sign Pek ($12 million per or more) then they are bumping the salary and have little room to improve through trade unless they find a team to overpay for Derrick Williams. Personally, I think they are going to try to orchestrate a sign-and-trade with Portland or some other team that wants Pek, sending out Pek to that team and possibly Derrick Williams to the Lakers so they can bring in Pau. Minnesota wants Rubio and Love to be the anchors of their franchise. They've had a lot of trouble keeping Love happy with all the losing. And they had a lot of trouble getting Rubio to sign there. He did not want to go there. They are concerned that Rubio is going to walk away from them as soon as he is able. Pau and Rubio are tight. And a Rubio, Love, Pau core is nothing to laugh about. IF Dwight re-signs in LA and Minnesota can't get a trade for Pau then the future could get interesting for Love. Minnesota is poised to have a great bounce back season next year. Love and Rubio getting totally healthy, a lottery pick, and either Pek or some other top-notch free agent or cap space to really put together some sort of trade for someone like Eric Gordon. There's a lot of things in flux and in Minnesota's favor for next season. So, with that in mind, it's difficult to see them moving Love within the next year unless something goes drastically wrong up there. Our best play to get Love may be to acquire Pau and get him re-signed to a reasonable Tim Duncan style deal, something like 4 years, $40 million after next season. Then use him for trade bait down the road if things develop in Minny to the point that they become concerned about getting Rubio signed long-term.
this. If Morey were to land Chris Paul people would say he's a chump and wouldn't be any good without Blake Griffin.
He is exactly what this team needs. He is made for our offense. He stretches the floor and could possibly even be the best 3 pt shooter on the team if he was here. He is an elite rebounder, something EVERYONE here has been crying for at the 4 spot for a while now. His defense isn't what you would want, but it isn't any downgrade from what we currently have either.
We don't need anymore bad defenders on this team, it's quite obvious by our stats that adding more offense doesn't improve our D...
Defensive rebounding isn't considered as defense nowadays? See how 2nd chance points have been killing us as of late?
Another great thing about Love....he's not on a super max contract. Next year he will make ~$15 million. With Lin and and Asik expiring in 2015, you would have room to add another max player to a group of Harden/Parsons/Love.
Kevin Love is one of the best PFs in the league, and his game would be perfect for the Rockets. Obviously those who don't agree subscribe to the Kahn's line of thinking. Guess that's why Love got lowballed on years for his contract. Kahn always was an idiot. Wonder if he'd be idiot enough to trade Love.
It's not second chance points down the stretch, it's offensive players blowing by Lin, Harden, and Dmo, which causes gaps in the defensive rotation and therefore easy put backs for 2nd chance points.
At least he could take his team to the playoffs. The Twolves have been terrible WITH love. Love is super overrated by this board. Some people were putting him over Dhoward.
