Pekovic, Rubio, and Martin have all been injured for long stretches. They also got a new coach and new system with Flip Saunders replacing Adelman. Saunders also been playing younger players more trying to develop them. Love has always been overrated..never made his teams better and couldn't even get them to .500.
Well, that would further explains it. Can't really win when 3/5 of your starters are injured. BTW, wanted to read what Cavs fans are thinking. Saw this incredible post by one of their posters. It's pretty depressing how much the Cavs mortagaged for LeBron and Love. Remember they had to give away assets to give LeBron the max, so that was also kind of a trade too. I understand that in a vacuum every team would make that "trade." But damn that's a lot of stuff to give up for a team that's under .500.
If you want love on this team you don't like defense(or winning championships) I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say kevin love as currently constructed will not win a championship. The dude plays absolutely no defense, NONE. Markieff Morris was eating him alive and love was simply not trying to guard him at all. Cleveland is gonna regret trading Andrew Wiggins for him.
Cleveland HAVE to trade him at the deadline. Unless they go on a streak and things start to look well. No way he resigns there playing like that and then what? Cleveland will have given up a #1 pick asset in Wiggins for nothing, nada, zilch, zero. Talk about losing a trade. If this continues into February then Cleveland would be smart to get whatever they can for him.
I'm going to guess that Wiggins for Love trade is going to be a laugher in a few years. I'd take Wiggins right now, he's already a better defender than love as a rookie and regularly puts up 20+ point games and good numbers as a 19 year old. If he's determined to get better skies the limit for him as he's also super athletic.
LOL, hopefully you didn't give some of these posters more ideas for another priceless trade thread like "I know this is a bit of a stretch, just hear me out... but What if we traded the whole Rockets team for the Cavs?“. Haha, I'm sure it's coming regardless.
This is what separates the stars from the superstars...when you can still make your team a threat to win even with less than stellar talent. Although for the life of me I can't figure out why the Knicks are so bad.
I remember when some on this board were clamoring we trade Harden for Love, LOL, seems like years ago now.
Love is a dysfunctional player that creates dysfunctional teams wherever he goes. Correlation or causation? I'm with the latter.
I always give a team like this 1.5 years to bring it together. There are no instant otameal championships in the nba. This team had some learning to do. They weren't just adding the final piece.
