Hey, this thread is about KG, not T-Mac (just funnin)

My real point is you make a very good point.

The past TWO season there has been a regular season team crowned champion by January.

Detroit, who finished with a fantastic 64 wins, then Dallas with an unbelievable 67.

The Cavs SWEPT the Spurs during the regular season; Utah won the season series - and Denver gave them fits while splitting the regular season games!

How'd that work out for them?

Regular season, more and more, is meaningless. KG and the Celts are out to prove something, as are the Rockets right now, but the rest of the "contenders" KNOW that you can't begin to PROVE anything until April.

Wouldn't surprise me AT ALL for the Spurs to go 0-6 against the Rockets and Celts this season.

Even if that happens, wouldn't bet against the Spurs winning number 5, either.

Agree with you completely except I would be extremely surprised if the Spurs go winless against us and the Celtics during the regular season. While they may cruise more than their share of the time and care less about their record than other teams, Pop does believe in the occasional statement game. Plus, this Spurs team is better than both the Rockets and Celtics. I wouldn't be surprised if they clobbered the Celtics both times.

You are so correct the Pistons of two years ago and the Mavs of last year prove the real season doesn't begin until April. Even during their incredible runs, I never got the feeling either team was destined to make the Finals.

Darko is definitely getting stronger. He's doing a quasi decent job bodying up Yao on the block.

They will never beat us turning the ball over like this

Yeah, Darko was looking pretty good against the Spurs, as well.

Detroit is going to HATE themselves even more over that draft:

    Melo - Nope
    Wade - Nope
    Darko - Nope

Makes Portland's screw up look minor.

Yes,he has been great thus far.
But I also think that Celtics aren't best team in the East and that Pistons are slightly better in terms of playing basketball and in terms of chemistry and defense.
Maybe some of you will not agree, but lot of people forgot Pistons, still It's nice to see Celts winning some games after few dissapointing seasons.

If I was the GM I would have traded Yao for KG a long long time ago.. KG bring the passion, the hear, fire to any team.. He just needed some players around him to make it all the way...

garnetts numbers have dropped drastically but imo that just shows how great of a player he is. he knows he doesn't have to do it all and he hasn't even been playing that many minutes. if he needs to he can still drop 20 15 and 6 on anybody. plus the celtics are 20-2 so who is to argue

That's why KG won't be the MVP. They(Pierce, Allen & KG) have figured out how to mesh, so their individual numbers won't be as gaudy. However they're a lock for the Eastern finals if not the NBA finals. The MVP will go to someone like Kobe who gets gaudy numbers, but can't get past the 1st round.

    Going by stats alone:

    Garnett - PPG = 18.8, Rebounds = 10.4, Assists = 3.7, Salary = 23.7 million
    McGrady - PPG = 24.2, Rebounds = 5.0, Assists = 5.4, Slaary = 18.2 million

That being said, I'd take Garnett over McGrady....

I called Detroit not making the Finals when, at the end of the regular season, they led the league in layups given up. Dallas's paint defense was similarly poor last year. The Celtics' paint defense is the best in the league, and that's the best single predicter of post-season success.

Watching the 2nd half of the Celtics/Bucks games almost has me on the bandwagon. Their defense strangled the Bucks in the 3rd quarter. But I want to see them do that to good teams in February and March. I just have this gut feeling the Celts are going to hit a wall late in the season.
