I hope he keeps playing this way (except against the Rocks!), everyone stays healthy, and we meet in the Finals. That's my dream. We meet in the Finals and finally beat the Celtics.
*sigh*... why are people constantly trying to downplay other accomplishments around here..... like KG didnt put big numbers against the teams in the west while he was here on his crappy teams.
KG is awesome. Throughout all those miserable years in Minnesota he always stuck by the organization and vowed to stay there. He never pulled a superstar attitude, but he ALWAYS played like one. He and AI are 2 guys I think of who will play 110% no matter what. And finally he's on a team where's he's not the only focus on offense AND defense, and his stats show it. I do agree that his only 'weakness' is his lack of killer instinct in the clutch. That said, I still have to root for my Cavs to take the East again. Although that definitely seems more unlikely this year.
yeah kg is more motivated than ever. 25pts 14rebs 5ast 3blks 2steals is what u're going to get from him this season. unreal
Man that's pretty killer for them right there. 3 insanely good teams in 4 days is no joke. KG IS playing out of his mind. Makes you wonder how good he'd be if he had all that help all those years ago. It's not hard to envision him average close to 24, 20 and 5, impossible that may sound. How can you not like this guy? On another note, does anything think that our team right now can defeat this Celtics team? It's gonna be a real challenge, even with our depth. Tmac might cancel Pierce out and Battier might cancel Allen out, but I think KG is going to give Yao fits on both ends of the court. Dominant as Yao is, KG's defense and insane wingspan can probably give him enough trouble to make up for the height difference. And on the offensive end, he has enough quicks and power to take Yao face up or muscle up Hayes and Scola. Let's not even start with how Alston/James is gonna stay in front of Rajon Rondo. That guy might not have much of a jumpshot, but he's quick as hell. IMO, we'll need Bonzi and James to both step up big time if we were to best the Celtics in a best of 7 series.
We have much better depth, and T-Mac and Yao are a pretty formidable duo for the Celts to match up with. But the Celts have one major advantage over the Rockets should both teams meet in the Finals. Boston will barely break a sweat getting through the Eastern Conference Playoffs, while Houston will be exhausted after having to beat at least two of the San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix trio.
The problem is that they have 3 All-Stars and a speedy point guard. While we have 2 All-Stars, an All-Defensive team player, and play point-guard-by-committee. Pierce, Allen and KG will stretch us defensively. Obviously for the 2 wings, we have to put Battier and Tmac on them. KG will likely be matched with Scola and Hayes, as I just don't see Yao being quick enough to match up with him. I think Adelman would take the height mismatch over the athletic mismatch. On the other hand, Pierce Allen and KG will guard Tmac and Yao and Battier, which gives one of their wings an easy time on D, cuz we all know Battier is not a volume shooter and doesn't force the D to stay aggressive on him. While Tmac and either Pierce or Allen (whoever isn't guarding Battier; my guess is Pierce) will probably cancel each other out. You can say Yao won't guard KG, and so he can conserve energy for the offensive end of things, but KG's defense, imo is more than enough to negate Yao's offense. If Mehmet Okur can force Yao into 45% shooting, it's not gonna be pretty when KG is locked on to Yao. Mike James can get his shot off against Rondo. But none of our point guards can stay in front of him save Aaron Brooks, who will be outmuscled by Rondo anyway. So it doesn't bode well for us in that department. One thing that works in our favour is to split Bonzi and Battier in an offense-defense tandem. Bonzi will DESTROY Allen on the blocks. Heck, he might even destroy the bigger Pierce while we're at it. When's the first match-up between us and the Celts anyway? It should be an interesting watch. If we can dominate the Celtics, I'd fancy our chances of going deep, even against the Spurs, Mavs and Suns.
I knew he'd dominate in the East. I mean, he was dominant in the West and it's much tougher here - but the East? How many legit big men are over there? The best big men (aside from Garnett) in the East are guys like Dwight Howard and Zach Randolph. Those guys are pretty good, but it's a far cry from Duncan, Nowitski, Boozer, Brand, etc.
Not that he's not astounding, if not Godlike, but how many Kevin Garnett Appreciation threads do we need? This is the second this week....
He has fine chances for being MVP but question is can he handle Celtics with other two players in the playoffs?
Stats don't mean much as he has been putting gaudy stats in the west and getting ousted in the first round.
