I want him to go pro for two reasons: (1) Because I'm an NBA fan and not so much a college bball fan and (2) I think he would get bored on the basketball court being so much better than his teammates and opponents game after game after game.
I want him to stay so they can get more players around him to win a championship, so he can be the Vince Young of basketball!
NBA Top 5 locks always go? I guess you don't remember Noah passing up the draft just last season after being a lock Top 3 pick, most likely even the #1 overall. I still think Durant will leave, but you gotta love some of the quotes in the article. Nice pic AzCkR. Hook Em'
FYI for all the Durant fans out there- KD is going to be a new special correspondent on the Jim Rome is Burning show tomorrow afternoon (Friday 2/16) The show airs at 3:30 CST. From the looks of the segment it looks like KD has some interesting things to share.
yeah, i took that pic at gregory gym. the UT bball team managers have an IM team and some of the players come out to support them. last week, aj abrams and KD were there. this week, it was big dex and KD. they even do layup drills with them during warmups, lol. KD and dex were hounded for pics and autographs afterwards. dex is so nice. he's always smiling and he's really jolly. KD is a real class act as well. he's quiet so he seemed somewhat cold but he didn't turn down a single autograph or pic request. he's a great guy. i'm an antoine walker fan. i gotta support our boy chuck hayes too.
gregory was better when it was 60 years old and not remodeled yet. some of the best pick up games ever.
Dude, I just saw Kevin Durant like 15 minutes ago in Jester. I was caught off guard. He was trying to hide himself, but that's hard to do when you're that tall. And let me tell you, he's damn tall (I'm only 5'10 or so but still). Everyone was like "wtf...dannngggggggggggg." I'm gonna be prepared next time and try to get his autograph.
FWIW, on 1300 am today, they had a quote from DJ Augustine saying that, not only is he not going anywhere, but that Durant has told his team repeatedly that he's staying. I believe that he tells his team this and that he might even believe it himself. Once the tourney is over reality will set in. I'd love for him to bring the national championship to Austin. I just think it would be stupid to take the risk. He is simply a special player that can will quickly be on the level of Bryant, McGrady, James, & Wade.
TJ Ford was 100% staying too. Then he hurt his neck and realized this was his shot to get the money. I think the thing with these guys is they do believe they are going to stay. They are having the time of their lives, etc. Then the reality hits. They have the offseason, they talk to agents, they realize the stakes, etc and things change. Unless a player says "I'm definitely leaving", there's no point putting any stock into a player's comments at this point.
what does everyone here think about comparing carmelo and durant in there freshman seasons? meaning who do you think is better would have been interesting to see what lebron would have been able to do also
Durant is better. Durant also has way more potential. Lebron would have played all 5 positions and made a joke of the NCAA.
Durant is definitely better at this point than Carmelo was. I'd also take Augustine over McNamara in a heartbeat. There is no telling what LeBron would have done to college basketball. It would not have been fair. He could have made the Akron Zips into a 1 year powerhouse just for fun.
To support your claim (and brag) I will offer evidence. Augustin was an effective thorn in the Aggies side all year long. Against the best defensive backcourt in the conference! McNamara was the 1st player in NCAA history held to negative points and negative shooting% by a less experienced Aggie backcourt in last years tourney. Thats right I said negative points
Durant is the Big 12 Player of the Year!! Congrats to Durant, as good as Acie Law is, I really thought Durant deserved it more. Andy Katz also said Durant is a lock for National Player of the Year. Both Acie and Durant are ESPN's All-Americans. With a much improved KState, the Big 12 might turn into the hardest conference in college bball (Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State).
