Congrats to Durant. I'm glad I saw him play once in person. He and this young team mates turned me into a UT bball fan; and the championship FB season turned me into a UT fb fan. Son AT ut is not really either, but I did get him to go to the bball game with me and his mother. He is a bit of a Rocket fan, naturally. He is becoming a ut BBALL FAN. Let's hope that Durant turns up at some UT games and helps with recruiting. Maybe he can wear a UT hat at some interviews and when selected one or two.
Hmm, looks like I will have an official 3rd fav team next year, after my Rockets and the Spurs (flame me)....
how can someone who is a student at UT not be a fan of the basketball team or especially the football team? does he not like sports at all in general? and as far as yourself becoming a UT football fan only after the championship year, I hope you didn't go to UT or anything cause otherwise that just reeks of total bandwagoning lol
I hope he goes to Atlanta. PG:? SG: Joe Johnson SF: PF: Sheldon Williams C: Pachulia If Marvin Williams ever pans out, he can play in the backcourt with Johnson running the point. Only spot left open is SF...perfect for Durant.
Even though he can handle the ball, JJ can't play full-time PG, which the Hawks learned that last year. Sheldon Williams isn't their key at PF, it's actually Marvin Williams. A good PG is the key to making the Hawks respectable. Durant would fit on that roster, of course, but the Hawks are one team that might benefit more from Greg Oden than Durant because they already have an abundance of swing players.
I am guilty of bandwaggoning. Before son started UT, I was a U of H fan. who rooted for them over UT, Son, unlike me, is good at all sports. (I liked to play basketball but was not good) and was pretty good at tennis, which I played informally, but frequently during highschool. I am a sports fan from way back. Son played basketball, baseball, soccer in elementary and at the YMCA and a bit of club soccer. Usually one of the stars without practicing. Didn't like competition much in middle school. Potential highschool team player in all but probably basketball due to height. His mother's brother was the star in a small city in Texas, who received an offer to be a running back at Baylor prior to knee injury. The brother is short, but good at all sports, too. Very athletic family. Son started on a fairly prominent large Houston Highschool team as a tennis player late in his senior yr despite starting tennis late-- summer before highschool very informally. Missed making the team as a freshman. He then started taking lessons, which all the other team players had had, often for years. Made the reserves as a sophmore. Soccer was his other best sport. Doesn't require as much practice in some ways as basketball and certainly baseball to be decent. . He just always said he liked to play, not watch. He is starting to get into watching UT bball and to a lesser extent football a bit.
Damn, Durant is going to be really good hopefully. I hope he doesn't go to some crap system or not get playing time. I can't wait, however, for T-Mac's little "welcome to the league" move on this kid. He's basically going to say "If you want to be like me, it ain't easy. It's going to take a while, kid." Which reminds me of this ad: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gcLEaabQiI0 Which then reminded me of this ad: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gcLEaabQiI0
Very little. Not close. It's like some in the other thread comparing Luther to Ben Gordon. Luther is Rashard; Durant is Gordon.
