Just merging the appropriate responses together I can see why people would be career students now. When you value sense, and you're in professions & living situations around a bunch of stupid people and nonsense, its nice knowing you can be around like minded people who at least pretend like they value academics. And of course you further educate yourself. I used to bash the pretentious intellectual but I'm seeing how authentic idiots arent any better.
The % of highly successful business owners who dropped out matches the general population. Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Ralph Lauren, Russell Simmons, and Richard Branson are some examples. Once you have the money and fame, you have unlimited resources for creating a business.
good for him maybe it has nothing do with a life after the nba in business but just a personal goal he wanted for himself. whats wrong with that? if he wanted to finish school and get a degree more power to him. heck shaq went back and got a graduate degree in like horticulture its pointless to him but it was something he wanted to do
Maybe he promised his momma. Plus you can't miss the opportunity to be around drunken college girls, especially at his age.
I don't think there is any reason to argue with BetterThanEver about the merits of going to college. He obviously has created some pretty skewed rationale to stand by. For instance - There are so many things wrong with that statement it is hard to pick one. The vagueness and complete lack of logic seem to be the strongest though. Fact of the matter is, there is no other environment in the world like college. You spend your days surrounded by like-minded people in a setting conducive to personal growth. Some use it more wisely than others, but when you are in your early 20's I can't think of a more fulfilling place to be.
He was here last summer, I saw him at Gregory last June with Dexter Pittman and it was pretty cool. I've also seen Vince Young and TJ Ford on campus during the summer.
Some people who come from backgrounds where a college degree isn't just handed to you might get some sense of personal pride from being a college graduate. I find a lot of these responses really short sighted. The guy wants a college degree. A college degree from a major University is something to be proud of.
It doesn't matter, KD is an NBA superstar. He could get any woman he wanted to at clubs. He is definitely not going back to college just to get chicks, he could get that any time, any place.
Props to this guy. I'm really rooting for him. It'd be nice to have an all star player serving a good role model. Def can't find that in Lebron, Kobe, etc...
Whether he attends UT or not, he can pull UT coeds. If he wasn't in class, that's even more time for sex.
Sounds like a good kid. Wouldn't mind having him on the Rockets!!! By the way, does he have any tattoos? I don't see any...seems like the "anti J.R. Smith"...
Damn... UT is slipping. They ranked #2 for having the hottest female students according to playboy. Right behind Arizona. Go figure. That article was 4-5 years back though. You know... I only read playboy for thier stimulating articles.
