From that picture, Duck must've been atleast 450lbs possibly 500lbs. Cause of death is probably related to his increased girth.

One of the nicest famous people I've ever met. When I was in 2nd grade our teacher new him so he was a special guest to our classroom. He gave us all piggy backs. A few years later my friends and I were trick or treating and guess who opens the door? Big Kev! RIP

I bet you anything he died from complications due to untreated sleep apnea.

Same as Pimp C (though Pimp C using promethazine+codeine all the time didn't help matters)

Sad story, gone too soon. Clyde Drexler is probably shocked as hell.

Wow I am shocked! I didn't know he had gotten as big as he had in that pic.

Really sad, remember most of those old Portland teams with Clyde on them, just crazy he's gone at 44.

Wikipedia entry states it was a heart attack.

probably so, had to be. RIP. My memory of Duck is he's the first player I remember with #0 as his number...

(I know, tastless... but girth didnt keep him from getting a nice looking wife)

I liked that Portland team. Great talents under Adelman. My second favorite team at that time.

Just 44-- your passing demonstrates how mortal we all are. Good people like you, sir, always will be missed.

I sincerely hope there is some kind of afterlife, and I sincerely hope it's a great place and that Duckworth is in it having the time ( or steak ) of his life.

    R.I.P.

Police: Duckworth had enlarged heart, high blood pressure

    Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Oregon officials said an autopsy shows former Portland Trail Blazers center Kevin Duckworth died when his enlarged heart failed.

Duckworth died Monday at the age of 44 on the Oregon coast, where he was on a goodwill tour for the team.

Oregon state police said Wednesday the autopsy was done by Dr. Larry Lewman, a state medical examiner who concluded that Duckworth died of "hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with congestive heart failure."

The police statement said the heart disease had combined with high blood pressure to result in "marked enlargement of his heart which had been failing for some time."

i heard about his enlarged heart yesterday and that is just terrible. Duckworth was always a good guy off the court I didnt get to see much of his prime in Portland but always remember how he was always helping off the court.

one of my friends went to one of his things out here in LA when he was with the clippers.

    RIP

    its a shame

    a damn shame
