Andy...were you in a government funded position that anticipated losing funding???

I keep hearing that Bush was a corporate w****...so i find it odd that Ima's script would play out.

Nope, an IT job for a small corporation. All three of the employers I talked to were owners of relatively small businesses (the one where I worked was 25 people and the other two were about 300 and 750 employees). Small businesses saw the writing on the wall because Bush IS a w**** to the multinationals, but doesn't seem to give a rat's a$$ about the little guy, whether a person or a small business.

andy, with this latest round of posts, you're in danger of trashing whatever shred of credibility you might still possess on this board. there's no way any responsible business person fired people just because Bush was elected- not even greenpeace does that. they might have used it as an excuse, to cover up for an already tanking economy, and perhaps they said something, since they knew your political leanings, along the lines of: "dude, business sucks, we're laying people off, and i'm afraid it'll only get worse w/ Bush in office." perhaps. but any business person who did what you suggest doesn't deserve to run their own business. you and dan need to stop spending so much time over at making****up.com.

andy, you *should* have left this thread after ima_drummer exposed your 'jobs weren't being lost' 'job were being lost' confusion. Now you are just sinking further into the credibility abyss.

The IT people have been taking the other side of this issue. Obviously, they are conflicted due to their personal situation. Is there any liberal that wants the other side that doesn't have self-interest in mind?

andy, just to amplify my point above, I've been unemployed four times since W took office (actually, since 9/11, but there's no way that event affected the economy, is there?); each time i was laid off, it was from a company headed by an avowed democrat, and where the overall culture of the company was decidedly left wing. i finally got a good, secure (i hope), well paying job three months ago, again, with a company that has definite leftist leanings- hell, they're even based in berkeley! not a single person, in my experience, and i work in technology, has ever said they based hiring/firing issues on who was in office.

I am fascinated that basso refuses to believe andy, since andy personally has had different experiences than himself.

I chose to believe both of you, when describing your personal experiences.

And you are in danger of calling me a bold faced liar to my face (or at least to my moniker). As I said, you don't have to believe me but it is the truth.

And in 2000, I was of the opinion that Bush wouldn't be any worse than his father who I believed to be an average president. In 2000, my "political leanings" were FAR further to the right than they now are. Bush has pushed me out of the right center to the left center because of his destructive policies. Anyone talking to me in 2000 would have seen me as a moderate Republican, not a "liberal."

That is your experience and I have mine. I was told what I was told and I related it here. If you cannot take that at face value, then it is not my problem.
