Like Nixon.... "The Playmaker?: The Redskins made the playoffs but lost in the first round to the San Francisco 49ers on December 26. During the game, Allen used a play that Nixon had suggested that resulted in a loss of yards. With the Redskins’ season over, he decided to root for the Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl, figuring that his residence in Key Biscane made him a sometime Florida resident. On January 3, 1972, he called Miami head coach Don Shula at 1:30 in the morning and suggested the Dolphins use a quick slant pass in the game." http://faculty.tamu-commerce.edu/sarantakes/nixon-images.html
Bush Insists His Administration Seeking 'new Ways to Harm Our Country' The Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of "Bushisms" on Thursday, declaring that his administration will "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people." Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." No one in Bush's audience of military brass or Pentagon chiefs reacted. i heard that on ar america. they have been making fun of it all day. i just keep wondering how he was supposed to finish that statement.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush's misstatement "just shows even the most straightforward and plain-spoken people misspeak." "But the American people know this president speaks with clarity and conviction, and the terrorists know by his actions he means it," McClellan said.
as someone who ends up doing a fair amount of public speaking...i understand entirely that anyone speaking this much is gonna screw up at some point...and sometimes those screwups are gonna be funny. if you can laugh at yourself, you're much better for it.
just another in a long line of non-issues. Who Cares? come on TJ/texx......surely if Kerry iss soo bad..you can come up with some reallly bad things about him. oh my...he is bad cause he cant keep track of sports team names....Oh My GOD!!!!!!!! how horrible.
2K: Good to see you in the D&D. To update you on what's been going on around here, Jorge et al do actually have a lot more they've been criticizing. For example... - His middle name - The state he's from - The fact he may have used Botox - His wife - The way his wife's name is pronounced - The fact that he and Jane Fonda attended the same anti-Vietnam protests (more than once) - The fact that he protested the war at all - Whether the medals he threw were medals or ribbons - The fact his combat wounds may not have been serious enough I'm sure there are more. Not too many having anything to do with the actual issues, but you can understand how this stuff would take precedence. After all, they're losing pretty badly on the issues.
i was wondering the same thing. a can't think of a logicol sentence that was about the same size that he should have said. I do not think this is something you should hold against a candidate. I'm not happy with Bush (but i'm from holland so ofcourse i'm not happy with him) But i would never hold a misspeaking against him. the same goes for any candidate who says the wrong words. Who cares if they make mistakes with words. it is theyre actions that count, and the candidates should be judged by that. p.s. funny stuf rimrocker
