Well, obviously not now, but you can't deny there would be rumblings if it went on to be a 1-4 flame-out. But then again, JVG said Les let's coaches play out there contracts. So by the next one, we'll just reassess then, but this whole team could be different. But my original point was that this Rockets team lacked defensive discipline (and this was during the playoffs until the turnaround). Anyways, the whole team has played completely different ever since 1-3. Hopefully, they can keep it up. There's enough talent on the Rockets roster to score from multiple positions and take what the defense gives. The Rockets are not like Memphis where one player can completely destroy the offense (unless it's hack-a-Dwight). So we could be in store for a bunch of Josh Smith 3pt attempts if that's what they decide is the best to rotate from, and as Rockets fans, we just have to keep our fingers crossed that he makes enough of them.
Blatt still not getting any credit now? Developed a flawless gameplan up to this point. He's defensively prepared his team unlike anyone else has this year for the Warriors sharpshooting.
pretty impressed that after the Warriors essentially destroyed the field just by outshooting, the Cavs have managed to muck up the game and keep the scores relatively close...and then let Lebron take over...
Both did great, just leave it at that. To tiring to break it down who deserves more and did less Cavs or Golden State, a new winner will be crowned after all the powerhouses are eliminated, all that counts
You have to sympathize for Blatt with all the talk revolving around him being 'inevitably' fired, despite the possibility of the Cavs winning the Championship. 16 Championships in Europe and the NBA barely gave him half a season to prove himself. I don't mind the guy.
Blatt still isn't good (doesn't mean he cant improve). Kerr is. Hold a coaches draft right now, Kerr goes early and Blatt falls past 20, easy.
Whoever drafts him also gets the rights to Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut, Shaun Livingston, and Andre Igoudala too right?
This makes no common sense whatsoever, but if you insist. I'm assuming you have some kind of insider knowledge about the inner NBA vibe? The fact is that Blatt has taken a truly flawed, no-depth team all the way to the finals, past a superior Chicago roster and arguably a superior Atlanta roster. Sure, Lebron is great, but it is waaaay too simple to just say Lebron + scrubs = this level of success. No way that roster should be able to fluster GS the way they have. Blatt needs some credit.
why is blatt still getting some credit he deserves? he got his troops play hard. not every coach can do that, especially for a rookie coach. his gameplan is very good so far. dont tell me its just lebron doing his thing. compared to him, what has kerr done in this series that showed he's superior over blatt? i say both are very good coaches. put kerr in lebron's shadow, and i cant see him doing better, esp. when 2 of the big 3 are out.
Blatt can have some credit but he's not that good. Spoelstra accomplished a lot more than Blatt has, Spoelstra isn't a great coach. McHale took an injury riddled team to 2nd in the west, teams aren't going to line up to hire him like he's some genius.
Pretty much any team Lebron has been has gone deep into the playoffs irrespective of the talent on it.
Spoelstra had LeBron Wade and Bosh and still lost in the Finals. Blatt has LeBron Delly and Tristan Thompson and are two wins away from a championship. McHale didn't take an injury riddled team more than Harden decided he wanted to be a Top 3 NBA player this year. Blatt isn't considered an elite coach right now or even after the season's done but he's looking every bit the part against Kerr and his "historic" team.
If the Cavs win the series, Blatt will receive credit. It's just how the sports game works-- win a title and whatever you do is right.
No one gives a damn about a regular season coach. The playoffs are where it counts and Blatt has shown up in a big way regardless of the cards he's been dealt. You can chide his offense, but those defensive schemes and adjustments have been elite. Much respect.
Except Kerr has been getting lauded in his first year as a coach, before he's won anything. Blatt deserves a ton of credit. He's came up with a great game plan for the Warriors and he's got his team (down two starters) exerting the incredible amount of effort it takes for the plan to work.
You people putting down Blatt are absolutely ridiculous. I truly believe some of you have no idea how much he's accomplished to this point. Even if they lose the rest of the games, Blatt has clearly established himself as having done the #1 coaching job in the playoffs this year- by far. You're talking about a team that, with Kyrie and Love and Varejao, would be the underdogs against GSW. Without Love and VJ, they are a clear underdog- and without Kyrie, they are ridiculous underdogs. This is a team that has a top 10 offense and top 10 defense, a 10+ point differential, and 67 regular season wins and only 3 playoff losses to date. This is the equivalent of 2001- which was equally stunning after Game 1- only Lebron has taken them to the next level after Game 3. If they actually win it all with the cast they have, it's the #1 team accomplishment in NBA history post 1980 (don't remember how much other teams were underdogs pre-1980). And Blatt deserves all the credit in the world for being the one at the helm of this historic event- if it happens.
