It is a tank job. That's the definition of tanking, to lose games on purpose in order to get something positive in return (i.e. get Oden).

It might be justified (look how well the Spurs have done with Timmy) but don't try to contradict the definition of a word. It is what it is; whether it's justified is another story.

Oh, btw, take a look at this:

At 0:14, watch Yao swat Gasol's pathetic shot into the first row. 0:38 too.

Doesn't change the fact the ball went into the first row.

Oh, did you miss your boy Swift and your boy Bonzi Wells getting dunks DENIED? It's in there too.

Stop arguing with the dude, compucomp. We compare Yao with TD, KG etc., not Gasol.

It's spin. Yao was already out for a few months last year! Van Gundy kept trying to win. Many posters including myself was upset with Van Gundy for not playing the scrubs more so that we could have gotten a higher pick than Rudy Gay. They didn't do a tank job, if they did, they might have Brandon Roy right now.

    Wrong.

You do know Pau blocks more shts than Yao. Yao gets dunked on because he has slow reactions.

How does my prediction correlate with the Grizzlies trying to win. If you think Jerry West is overseeing a tank job, than you are uninformed.

Hm? According to basketball-reference, Yao has a 1.9 average while Pau has 1.8. Sorry you lose again.

Pau lets people blow by him so he doesn't look bad.

Oh, why the hell are you a contributing member? Why are you paying for the privilege of being a troll? You can do that for free nowadays.

Exactly, Kerr doesn't make any bold declarations. Like the media dog he is, he's hedging his bets so that if the Rockets do damage, then he can hop on the bandwagon as if he was always on.

the real question is Why aren't you?
Memphis X is a good poster. Ofcourse he defends his team, and his players. He is not a troll by a long shot.

"Yao gets dunked on because he has slow reactions" sounds very trollish to me. Posting that same Rudy Gay highlight clip in Battier threads is trollish too. Come on, there's no need to defend the guy. Just because he donated $100 or whatever to Clutch doesn't mean he's justified in being a troll.

It still makes no sense though. If he wanted to bash the Rockets and say how awesome his team is, he doesn't need to pony up to do it. He's clearly not a Rockets supporter, so I see no logical reason why he would want to donate to this site. It's a Rockets fan site.

Yao does gets dunked on because his reaction time is slower then a smaller player. Which is logical. However he also gets dunked on because he challenges every shot. That is just the fate of a dominant center.
However Gasol almost blocks as many shots, so apperantly he is doing a good job on defense blocking shots. However Yao's greatest strengh on defense is that he is imposing for oppenents, and they do not go inside that much because he is there. And Gasol is not that imposing. Both are very good player, i would love to have Gasol on our team. However I think Yao is a better player. and also a better defensive player.

I do not defend the guy because he contributes i defend the guy, because i feel you do not treat him fair. I do not feel he is a troll(I have seenreal trolls at work, and they are bad).

I do agree at some points he is provocotive, but not in a bad way. He has been around long(even longer then me). and i never had any problems with him. If you were at a non-rocket basketbal site wouldn't you defend your team? I know i would.

This is THE BEST basketbal site in the world, ofcourse a basketbal fan would like to come here and enjoy it. Since he spends time here, and reads here he also contributed, that is a good thing(in case you didn't know that). this site costs money, and a lot of time. So people who enjoy it should help the admins when possible.

So do not bash somebody because he helps the site, that is just strange.

Hey compu, easy now. I'm sure while MemphisX may not say it directly, if somehow Yao and Gasol were switched, he would be raving about Yao. If Rudy Gay were still on our team, he wouldn't care one bit for him. At the same time, posting those highlight clips in multiple threads can be a bit annoying. If CD were to have another brain fart (although it has been a blessing in disguise) and offer Yao for Gasol... no more needs to be said.

On this topic, while it has been mentioned before, I just want to reiterate how things could not have worked out better for us in our current situation. One, seeing as how our management wrote off Gay, getting Brandon Roy (who I'm not as high on as others) would have probably caused our organization to sit pat. In addition, if Minnesota didn't nix us, then we would have traded Luther to do it as well.

I would take Battier + Luther over Brandon Roy,
in addition it is likely that our offseason acquisitions would not have been as proactive following the draft, and one of
Snyder, Vspan, and Bonzi would probably not have been signed due to the plethora of guards we would have been stuck with, not to mention salary.

I Remember when we were 2-0 up on dallas, kerr labeled us as the team to beat in the west. even after the series loss, he said we'll make the WCF next season. offcourse we had that unbeliveble run with injuries. kerr has a history of jumping on and off the BANDWAGON....

Every sane GM would take yao's left nut over gasols whole game. yao has dominance written allover him. gasol has i'll be an above average player written all over him.

The problem for most clubs is that are only about 10 guys that you can build a club around but there are about 40 guys making near the max.

If you don't have one of those guys, you are pretty much wasting your money. Fortunately for us we have two of them. Lets hope they stay healthy.

There are other factors out there, but it looks like Memphis generally stunk when Shane Battier was sitting on the bench last season. With or without Gasol, there is going to be a problem over there.
