I dont know what most of you guys are talking about but Kerr does NOT seem to be a Rocket hater at all and I agree with his article. He made a good point about the lack of offensive flow in Rockets games. Thats why so many posters here are always complaining about how "ugly" the game is. There is no flow and the game is jerky and ugly. We definitely need some personnel changes and dont think that if we were healthy we would be riding along with the mavs and spurs. No, our dismal record and probable lottery fate just shows that we have MAJOR problems and that we need to make some personnel changes in the offseason. Yao and Tmac cant do it on their own, and although I agree that if we had a fully healthy roster we would make the playoffs, I dont think the Rockets would make any waves in the playoffs. Anyways, I hope I am wrong.
I for one can't get past his title. As soon as I saw that crap, that was it. No reading farther. **** his worthless article.
Well, actually he did use the phrase. He just switched a few words, but over all he used the saying. He wrote his title from that saying. You think he woulld write "LA has a Problem" ?
Why let the title prevent you from reading? I don't read titles of article. Many of them are written by some editors who know nothing about sports. Anyways, Kerr's theme is not very original. His analysis is OK. One thing I like is his pointing out how JVG's team is always at the bottom in fg% and at the top in fg% defense. That seems to be the one thing you can bank on with JVG. Also, I've been griping about the player selection problem. I really hate changing rotation players EVERY year because "they don't fit the coach's style." Well if they don't, why did he bring them in in the first place?
I read the article Kerr wrote and can't say that he's your typical Rockets hater. I would have to say that I agree with the majority of what he's saying. A few of you guys are thinking that the return on Yao will bring us back from this hole. Calling him "dominant", it's simply not true. When the Rockets' injured roster comes back, we still have to think about chemistry; seeing as how the entire team hasnt been able to play on-court together for longer than a month without someone getting injured. Kerr is correct in the style of play JVG has. And he is right about the pitt bulls we had last season. Don't bash the guy because some of your can't handle the truth.
I bet that the only reason that Steve Kerr didn't use the actual phrase, is because Dan Wetzel used it as the title for his column like 3 days ago: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=dw-young010506&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Maybe the Yahoo system doesn't let any two articles with the same name co-exist within like 1 week eachother.
The bloom is off the rose with the media for Van Gundy. No one is impressed he works late anymore. He works late at destroying talent. No one cares he drove a honda. He hates performance. He is exposed for what he is - a discount Riley clone that makes the game ugly.
If JVG assembled the team around McGrady/Yao how can Kerr say that JVG doesn't have the personel needed if for most of the season one of them has been on the DL? ....You can only asses the team when you have both Tmac/Yao playing for an extended amount of time, otherwise the only thing that your doing is guessing!...Injuries are the primary reason for the way the team is playing right now....I'm neither a seer or a prophet but I can clearly see a better overall performance as a team when Yao returns! Oh by the way Kerr is a Girly Man!
I don't see why y'all are hating this article so much and if you look at this year's Rox I think his analysis for the most part is good. When the Rox have been successful this year they've been high scoring and high octane. They haven't been winning games 81-75 like we saw two years ago or the JVG Knicks. They've been winning games 100-90. I think its obvious this isn't a shut down defensive team but a team that does better playing freer and many of the players on this team, T-Mac, Swift, Alston, Head and Barry when he comes back can play the open court game. At the same time it seems to me that there isn't a tough grind it out player on the Rox like a Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason or even a Mario Elie. I don't see how anyone can disagree with that. We didn't have a team last year that could beat the best in the West and we don't have a team now because of health or other reasons that can consistently compete.
How could anyone that has ever listened to Kerr do a Rockets game say that he isn't a Rocket hater. Kerr sucks, I always hate to listen to him do Rocket games because he always talks s*** about them.
before claiming that the offseason pickups are not conducive to this team, kerr should give the team a chance to play together once the injuries are all treated. wait until they get 20-30 games together as a unit before making such a judgment. from his tv broadcasts to other things he's written, kerr is still worthy of his douchebag status.
