Your right I just think that he could possibly fill our void at the SF position. But I don't think he'll have a problem with his personality as bad as Cousins whenever he goes pro. I've been watching him this year and he's playing solid basketball.
He's a bit of a black hole at this point (when the ball is sucked in it doesn't come back out), but he's getting better. Still, at this point he's not exactly ideal for a team based offense.
I'll go ahead and say it before someone else does. Rockets outscored by 9 points with Chuck on the floor and outscored by 20 points with Patterson on the floor against Mavericks. I missed all but the 4th quarter. How were they tonight? I assume not so great in the first half?
They were great. Hayes was pretty much the only one giving a crap at the beginning, and Patterson was easily our best bench player tonight. Loved their effort, and even the Mavs announcers were praising Hayes. For cripes's sake, Hayes actually did stuff when he gave it to him in the low post.
Chuck and Pat were on the floor during a horrible stretch in the first half when the hole was dug. The team overall did fine in the 2nd half. The +/- tonight largely a function of who was on the floor during "the horror"
With the kind of backcourt we have, I like seeing these hardworking, defensive frontcourt players on the floor.
That was because Brooks was in. We were down by 10 when he came in. All of the sudden our deficit was 25. The starters returned and got it down to 17 at half time. Then in the 3rd, the Rockets got it down to 3 points when Brooks came in and then the deficit blew up to 12 again. Lowry came in with 4 or 5 minutes left and we got it down to 1 before Brooks got schooled by Barea and went back and blew a couple of layups.
He is injured. Plus he had no business leaving college last season, but he hated the work. Not much you can do with a kid who doesn't want to work to get better... see Swift, Stromile.
