part of me thinks this is the hawks/rox negotiating thru the media with "leaked" reports though.

still don't understand why we'd target tyler johnson and why the heat would give up james johnson for ryno. if it requires sending us dion waiters, then it might not even be worth it. dion would be a bad fit on our team imo especially with who we've added this off-season

The idea that there's always one "truth" is just silly. There are a comical amount of moving parts, changes, and sometimes intentional misinformation related to NBA transactions.

In the Shams case, Kelly reported in mid-June that Ariza was looking for a payday, possibly $50-$60M. Shams reported in late June that those figures weren't accurate. Maybe, instead of someone outright lying or making things up, a more plausible way to reconcile the different reports is that something changed between the first report (about 10 days prior) and the latter — most likely, Ariza's agent figuring out that the money wasn't there.

In the Amick case, Kelly reported in July that the Rockets had interest in Bazemore, then followed up by explaining that Atlanta's asking price is a future 1st + a young player (Melton). Amick then reported that Houston isn't pursuing/interested. Is it not plausible that the reason for Houston not pursuing is because Morey doesn't agree with Atlanta's asking price/valuation? Negotiating through the media (i.e. sides posturing, trying to leverage, etc.) can be a real thing. I've seen it.
