I hope something can be worked out between Kenny and CD. Put me down for keeping KT.

    Stay, Kenny, stay!

I think KT will be staying with us this season and depending how well he does he might get an extention with us next season.

    Toronto trades: Alvin Williams

Houston trades: Kenny Thomas and Moochie

We get a legit starting PG as our backup SG/PG. Plus we get rid of Moochie's contract.

Horrible deal. We'd basically be giving away KT because Alvin Williams is not much, if any better than Moochie.

Moochie blows. Maybe they can throw in a extra #1 to even it out but getting a better backup PG/SG that can give you 20-30 mins a game is better than having KT give you 5-10 a game.

TSN's Sean Deveney is supposed to be reporting that the following trade is in the works...

Toronto trades: Morris Peterson, Jerome Williams, and Mamdou N'diyae to Golden State for Gilbert Arenas, Troy Murphy, Danny Fortson, and a protected top 15 pick.

I first heard that this trade was being reported in the fan site at NBADraft.com, so was sceptical, but Deveney is reporting Peterson to G-State talks, although I have yet been able to find the specifics mentioned above.

And Alvin Williams is better than Moochie, God Love Him, any day of the week.

Have you guys even watched Alvin Williams for more than one game? I watched him quite alot last season. He's good, but over-rated and not a much better player than Moochie. Check the stats. Williams shoots a better percentage, but he also plays about 10 more minutes per game and only averages about one more assist per game than Moochie.

    1) Williams played completely hurt last season, requiring 3 different surgeries at the end of the year ( both ankles and a knee). Despite that he was the only Raptor to not miss a game, and team sources say that had the Rockets not been so devastated by injuries overall, he would have been shut down. So his numbers are down as a result.

    2) He is 25 times the defender Moochie is, and is also a big-game shot maker.

    3) Part of the reason for how close their assists are is that Alvin readily gives up the ball in the halfcourt set in time to let the overall play develop, rather than hold on to it until the last second, thereby assuring yourself of either an assist or a teammates' missed shot on a last second attempt.

    4) He is also the ultimate teammate..He dives for balls, works his butt off, plays defense, takes and hits big shots, but otherwise looks to get his teammates involved, and never, I mean NEVER thinks of himself first. Never talks about himself in the papers, never gets all look at me! after a big play, cares only about winning and losing. I love this kind of player.

I payed closed attention to Alvin Williams because I picked him on my Fantasy League and he is a nice player. What I see in him is..
He gets a nice stats in such little effort. He doesn't look like a point guard in his style of plays since he is nice offensive and defensive, but he manages to bring the assist up. IMO i wouldn't mind getting Williams. :D but not for KT and Mooch. Since Alvin has a larger contract than KT than lets just forget about the deal.

From all indications it looks like we are going to do the 3 by commitee, i.e. Rice, Kenny and Boki will see plenty of time depending on opponent and situation. I don't think they will trade away KT's abilities to fill two positions and his team value unless it is for a guy like Mo Pete. I think they will hold out until we all can see what this bunch can do - Feb. trade deadline?!

Be realistic people. Why Toronto would want KT??

If the stories are true and he has slimmed down, how effective will a 6'7" 215# PF be in either conference?

Aren't we planning on using him as a "3"?

I highly doubt there will be any trades before the season begins.

The Rockets seem to be pretty happy to stand pat right now.

slimming down does not mean you are weaker. Garnett is 220 ilbs, and he is a rock. If Kenny has slimmed done, he's probably more ripped than last year and stronger. Rasheed Wallace is listed at 225. Swift is 225. Shawn Marion is 215.

And let's not forget that Eddie is 220.

Sure these guys are taller and can make up for stronger guys pushing them off the blocks....but Eddie is not stronger than Kenny, not even close, until we see it.

I do not expect Kenny to be weaker than last year at all. That's just a theory, which goes like this: if one variable changes (weight) the other variables (speed) and (strength) offset each other by changing in opposite directions. That's not necessarily true at all. Strength and speed can both increase while weight goes down. Also, his jumping might increase, as well.

    HP,

I agree. My own experience is exactly that. If you try to lose weight by working out, a lot of times you don't lose weight at first but get really toned. You end up replacing body water and fat with muscle. If he is on this path, then losing weight could mean he is stronger and leaner. I don't see any reason why this guy can't play a significant role at SF. I think this is the Shandon Anderson we really wanted/expected.

Yes he was banged up, but he played more minutes than he ever has in his career. He actually had higher numbers last season than in any season he has played thus far in his career.

I'll give you that he is a better defender. On the other point Moochie has hit his share of clutch shots too.

Look at who Williams had to dish the ball to...Carter, Peterson, Davis and even Keon Clark(now with Sac-town). Who was Moochie supposed to dish to last year other than Mobley, Francis(when he was healthy) or maybe KT? Cato??

And Moochie isn't? He regulary breaks down defenses, takes shots from the big guys, gives all out hustle, also gets his teammates involved and I don't recall him putting himself ahead of the team in the media(correct me if I'm wrong).

    A couple other interesting stats: Alvins high assist # from last season - 14, Moochie - 17. Moochie ranked #17 in assists per 48 minutes @ 8.6, Alvin ranked #25 @ 7.7.

I know that you are just telling us what you hear, and that's cool, it's made an interesting thread so far, but this is a total Raptor homer trade.

MoPete and Murphy are about a wash, Fortson and JYD are about a wash, and GS throws in Arenas, who showed some promise last year, and a 1st rounder to boot? All for a backup 3/2? GS would be stupid to trade quality big man depth + quality spare parts for one of the easiest positions to fill in basketball.

Yet the trade would fix all of the problems with the Raptors. Uhm hmm. Still, it's not like the Ws haven't made dumb moves before.

I agree the Alvin Williams is better than Mooch, but I don't think the disparity between the two is as much as some hype it up to be.

Hakeem is suposed to retire in a couple of days, from what I hear! Why would we trade for a retired player?
