What will happen when 2 Black Holes in Kenny Thomas and Allen Iverson collide? This will get interesting.

previous poster referred to posey maybe instilling a defensive mindset like christie in sacramento. i think that is exactly what the front office was thinking.

even with yao in the middle, the rockets were not a "physically imposing" team in terms of individual defenseive matchups. mobley will almost always be outmuscled at the 2 spot, rice is mediocre at best defensively at the 3 spot, and thomas was always going to be at a disadvantage no matter how hard he played. griffin eventually will probably be a very good defensive player at the 4 spot.

with posey at the 3 spot, like sacramento, portland, and indiana, teams will begin to have problems matching up with houston individually. and finally, houston has someone to guard the talented big guards (kobe, tmac, pierce) but isnt an offensive liability.

dumb trade. we're a yao ming big foot problem away from being a 27 win team. Mo is king of the dnps right now.

On the positive side, there will be a calm period where we don't have to have kenny v eddie threads.

ps, since we acquired a 3, can we assume that eddie is slated by the team to be a 4, for once and for all. LOL

It's not a foregone conclusion that the Rockets are doomed defensively against Duncan, or any other power forward. Did you see how well Griffin fronted Duncan during their last game against the Spurs? It's not like Kenny Thomas exactly shut down anybody, either. I think this is a fantastic trade. The team is much more balanced and now has a defensive force at the 2 and 3 positions.

My question is..now we have 3 guys who all want the #41 (Rice, Griffin, and now Posey)

What # is Posey going to take??

    Elvis,

i know what it appeared from that game, watch the second quarter again when Eddie comes in, it is like a dear stuck in the headlights and in the 4th when it looked like Eddie was shutting him down it was mostly zone and forget they gort bailed out by Dunc's Free throw shooting

for me in man to man kenny did a much better job

Yeah, one of the most important things to remember is that we traded an undersized player for an oversized player. If you want to talk about talent, Posey and Thomas are probably in the same park in their own ways, but Thomas will always be undersized, no matter how well he is utilized and Posey is nicely oversized for the two and perfectly sized for the three. Also, the guy's only 25. I'd love to see Posey as a Rocket for years.

As for pt, you won't see Rice come off the bench. Most likely, Posey will get 10 minutes a night at the 2 and 15-20 minutes at the 3. That sounds great to me.

This was out of left field for me, but I think it's just a brilliant trade.

Oh, as for Boki, he'll be fine, Rice will be through soon and Mobley Posey and Boki will split time between two positions nicely for at least a year or two.

Remember how weird Steve and Cuttino celebrate after a big play or winning a tough/close game........

Now Posey will add his twist on things..... :D

I've had very little chance to see TMo. Was he a first round pick? If so then he's locked up for at least next year and the following year should the Rockets so choose. That being the case, he's got plenty of time to work on his game and find his way in the nba and the Rockets have him cheap for at least another year. If he proves to have some significant value, then of course it would be necessary to reevaluate. For now, there's nothing with him riding the bottom of the rotation or riding the bench. Rookie contracts don't weigh to heavily on a GM's mind.

On the other hand, this is only if he was in fact a first round pick. Now that I think of it, I don't think he was. Hmm, 37th overall? Anyone remember? I'll go look to see if it's noted on this site. If he's a second round pick then it all has to do with his contract, length and dollar value.

This is one of the great days in Rockets history.

They got rid of a guy who clearly did not fit the Rockets puzzle, and they added a guy who can play defense, and can shoot from the perimeter.

The Rockets just got a lot better.

My mistake, he's a free agent after this year. Well frankly, I like what little I know about his game, I'm not sure about his head. He fell off quite a bit in his last year or two at Maryland. I don't know if he's Stevie's caddy or something, but with his athletic talent at his age, he's certainly worth keeping around cheaply. Considering though, this team's youth already I say that Posey makes TMo obsolete and I'd rather put the money into a nice older vet 4, a Charles Oakley type to help EG out at the 4. Yeah, I know there was a logjam already, but I'm not talking about an up and coming guy looking for big minutes, just a tough vet to help out on the boards and play some low post d. I'd have no problem losing TMo at the end of the year if his spot on the roster is taken by such a player.

I've seen Posey play about 40 times in the past few years. I have no doubt CD has been targetting him for a while and that this trade wasn't just a desperate effort to get KT to a team that can use him. There is a reason why we had to include a 2nd round pick w/ KT: Posey has game. He reminds me of a taller Desmond Mason. It was only last season that he absolutely torched us in a game too. I think Denver has always been unhappy with them b/c first of all they had an idiot coach in Issel, they had higher expectations of him to become an all-star level player, and he has been inconsistent in his play (disappearing some games). However, I am convinced that he will fit in well w/ our squad since he will be able to play off of our stars. He is an excellent finisher so he will be an improvement over TMo and Hawkins from the get-go.

Possey only shot over 40% in his first two years when he shot 42 and 41 percent respectively.

In his last two seasons (the majority served with Nick and Reaf) Possey shot 376 and 373. He is a lifetime .398 from the feild. Maybe you consider that a huge difference but I sure as hell don't.

Possey has never been any better than our own Cuttino Mobley at handing out assists avg'ing 2.2 for his career.

I am now pulling for Possey but I am still very skeptical. If you want to push him off on us as a defensive demon then that is fine but do not try to sell his offense based on what he has done up to this point in his career.

Understand that I am going to become a Possey fan and I will be hoping that he does good.
