Great trade for all teams. 1) KT is a great pickup for Phily--he will do really well in the East. 2) Posey better fits what we need. He shot 43% and 37% (3s on 240 shots) his rookie year--I think his lower recent shooting is because Denver jettisoned all their other scorers and he has had to force more shots. Artest's shooting numbers improved quite a bit actually being around other good players. 3) Denver really takes the lead in the Lebron sweepstakes while getting 2 more picks (1st and 2nd). GS and Memphis were obviously much too close for comfort. The clock is on the Cavs for the next move.
So, can anybody guess the first question asked to Posey about the Rockets? 1. What do you think about the Rockets? 2. Are you gonna miss playing in Denver? 3. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YAO MING? my guess is #3.
I think its simple. The Nuggets are a team that is ultra young and building a team for two or three years down the road. An additional 1st and 2nd rounder is very nice for a rebuilding team.
I never doubted his hard work or his dedication to the game. He is probably one of the hardest working players in the league. He just seemed like an a55hole to me.
His numbers were much different. With Van Exel and Lafrentz, Posey shot over 40% and his turnovers were half of what they are now.
Cod, I agree mostly, EG is really not ready, but maybe the sink or swim pressure will help him. We are in real trouble if MoT was benched for poor form though and it wasn't a showcase Kenny thing. How many more years does Rice have left?? Not sure about abother trade Rice and TMo wouldn't get us Poo Pie. but really we are going to need his shooting with all the zone being played (watched Lakers v Twolves yesterday adn the Twolves just sagged off everyone) Not sure about Boki, think it will be a Bender/Harrington sit for year, watch and learn and work hard off the court, if Peja can play in this league, then i think Boki will get there eventually, he has the shot and athletisism, he just needs to adjust to the physical nature and play some D.
Two words...Rhoderick Rhodes Just kidding, I haven't really followed Posey. I hate to see Kenny go and lets hope Taylor can get back into it. The 2nd rounder is no biggie although I agree we should have gotten a pick not Denver.
I will say this: KT was by body definition hard to put on the court..when he was bigger he was good for the PF position..then he slimmed down and wasn't tall enough or big enough to guard the PF's of the league..he also wasn't quick enough for many of the SF's of the NBA..Posey looks like a quick/defense SF and also at 6'8 a good size 2 guard when he comes in to relieve CAT!
Since everyone is working so hard to get LeBron James maybe we could get Darius Miles and Dejuan Wagner from Cleveland
I hope you're right crash, b/c quite frankly, I don't really trust Denver and their GM Kiki Vandewegh. With a trade with the Knicks earlier this year, Nuggets traded a health-risky Antonio McDyess for Marcus Camby and another player. The trouble was that McDyess went down in pre-season... While he checked out with the Knicks exams... I still think somewhere, somehow, the Nuggets knew that they were dealing away a "uncertainty." just a thought theSAGE
uhm, for draft picks and to keep the payroll low. Nothing mysterious about it. Consistent with the Nugz plans for rebuilding.
I'm not saying the guy is a great shooter but when he had those players, his rebounds, assists, steals were up and turnovers were down. We'll see how good or bad his outside shot is when he gets here. And we moved Kenny out because we had three power forwards and Kenny can't guard anyone at the 3 spot. Simply put, Kenny was the one who had to go to get the deal done. I would have rather seen MoT go but overall, IMO, this is a good move by the Rocks.
in response to why denver unloaded posey: denver is only concerned with unloading anybody on the roster who is up for a contract renewal. posey is in the same situation as thomas, so the three way trade enables denver to avoid paying posey or thomas and get two inexpensive stiffs who will take up minimal space in terms of salary. they are tanking for lebron and also for potential free agents. not being able to watch either thomas or posey except for highlights, i couldn't give a thorough opinion of the trade. however, knowing that mj considered him to be an artest-type player at the 3 spot for the wiz this summer gives me confidence.
