ESPN's "What's hot what's not?" artical mentioned the trade. Under "Not," Kenny Thomas Under "HOT" James Posey At least ESPN agrees that Houston got the better end of the deal.
Come on now NJRocket ... if Mo wasn't such a big disappointment, we wouldn't have Yao right now I'm glad we're not wasting assets now (with the exception of Nachbar). Mo was on the bench and was untradeable. He couldn't even play -- now he has to play. We were going to be faced with a tough decision on signing KT this summer, and now we'll have to make that decision with Posey.
I think we will defintely sign Posey (barring injury or an unexpected 2nd half by Boki). It wouldhave been hard to lock in another 4 to a long term contract...especially since you have to think that Eddie is going to eventually get his extension. Either way, its a nice 3/4 yr tryout for Posey...I think he will fit in.
I think that's a key to this deal. The Rockets couldn't sink another long term PF contract into their payroll. MoT has one, and Griffin is the future of the PF slot. According to just about all reports, no one was benefitting from the PF minutes crunch. KT would've been a restricted free agent. CD and Rudy are big on chemistry- Philly said they were planning on pursuing him in the offseason, would we want to exercise our rights on a guy that was unhappy and either would be a long term contract sitting on the bench, or would force another long term contract to sit on the bench? I doubt it. Posey fills a role that we haven't filled since the days of Mario Elie (forget Shann Anersn- he couldn't guard the bigger players to save his life). He's a bigger 3, long, and takes the tough defensive assignments fairly successfully. We're basically going to get a trial seeing how he fits with this team. If he can adjust to being a role player on a good team, rather than the go-to guy on an awful team, we're in business. His game is much more suited for the latter-he came into the league as a defensive player, and still has that rep. IMO, he'll be much easier to sign- he seems excited to be playing with a winning team, and makes his home here in the offseason anyway. We will have his RFA rights, which makes it even easier. PS, Clutch re:Nachbar- Do you know what the deal with him is? We heard a lot about how he was NBA ready. Has that injury really slowed him down that much?
He is more athletic. Posey also has a LOT more size. Mario was ~6-5. Posey is 6-8 with long arms. If he can hit the open 3 ball, we're in business.
conspicuous in his absence... the #1.5 KT fan on the bbs (Rocket River) is definitely #1 .....ahem.... heypissedoffmyfavoriteplayerisgone where are youuuuuuuu??
I'm pretty sure hp will at some point address the issue with some explanation why he held back with a comment on it for such a long time.
Could it possibly be beacuse he's busy and doesn't have the time for the BBS? Nah. Lay off the guy. Kenny had to go because MoT has ZERO trade value. It's not a knock on Kenny.
I am curious too, how long HP will be silent. They guy lives in here 24 hour a day, and has just vanished. Could it be that Kenny Thomas was HP? Nah, just joking HP!! but you cannot hide your opinions forever
OK, folks, HP has just left the denial stage and entered the anger stage of his grieving. Two more stages to go and he'll come out.
1) pondering becoming a Sixers fan 2) visiting a Sixers message board, posting there, getting banned because of being too annoying (as always, just kidding ) --> coming back to the Clutch BBS
Didn't you guys take Psych 101? Or was it the "Crisis Counseling" course? That's the standard textbook theory of 4 stages a person is supposed to go through in grieving: denial, anger, sadness, and acceptance. I like SJC's last 2 though.
