Wow. Kenny Smith wasted no time jumping on that bandwagon. The season is only 2 games deep. Way too early to be declaring anyone MVP.

Kenny did this so that on the outside chance that it does happen, he can claim to be the 1st to say it. If it doesn't work out, he'll go back on his word and say it was only 2 games. Low risk high reward prediction for him.

Carmelo's a great scorer, but so one dimensional. He can score from anywhere, but he's a sub par passer, rebounder, and defender. This team was in turmoil before they got Billups, and likely would be without him.

No way and right now Melo is probably the sixth or seventh best player in the league.

I personally can't stand Melo. He's a great scorer, but I hate his attitude. He just seems to cool to try. Plus, he's constantly flopping...it's rare that he'll miss a shot and not have a whine at the refs. His defensive effort is also very questionable and he's a guy who doesn't make his team better like a Kobe or Lebron or even Chauncey.

He's also yet to prove it when it matters. In the series against the Lakers he went missing when they needed him the most. He's still young and can develop into an MVP, he has all the skills. It's just a question of him getting his mind right. To me, he was like T-Mac at Orlando in a lot of ways (except maybe not quite as good). Exceptional ability, but can he harness it to help his team?

What about jameer Nelson(who was an all-star last year) or Reshard Lewis (who was an all-star as well)& V.Carter (like you mention above).....maybe with that you can eliminate DH from Most VALUABLE Player contention

PS. I just think D.Howard is really overrated.... :D

He is overrated some what writers were saying he was better then Yao in Yao's best season where he put up 25 and 10 for some reason always had Dwight ranked above him.

What type of question is that?

If you keep Billups and take off Melo they are not a top 5 team in the West neither.

I don't think they would be as good or almost as good if they had Andre Miller over Billups.

MVP is not about how high you are ranked in the NBA.

Nuggets HAD Andre Miller 04-07, averaged about 45 wins.
Traded Miller for Iverson, he got them around 48-50 win pace.
Traded Iverson for Chauncey, now they're around a 55 win pace.

The most major starting lineup change they've had is point guard or guys getting hurt. None of that development in 5 years HAS to be attributed to the point guards. Could just be a better overall team with Carmelo maturing, Nene and Kenyon being healthy, JR Smith developing, etc... But its been the same Carmelo/Nene/Kenyon/JR Smith, some Camby mixed in most the years. They even had Birdman Miller's 1st year.

I dont think if Andre Miller sticks around they improve to 55 wins, just dont. Considering they even improved a notch with Iverson.

Doesn't matter what his place he is in terms of the best player in the league. If he has the best season this year, he should win the award. It's two different arguments.

So my "Melo is the best pure scorer in the NBA" statement isn't too far fetched now is it?

It would be amazing if he did win MVP. He would be considered Lebron's equal from the 2003 class.

The 08-09 Nuggets won 4 more games than the previous year, and that team didn't have Nene for a full season, Chris Andersen and Dahntay Jones. Don't overrated Chauncey Billups here.

Haha, its bad when even N4 disagrees with you about something regarding the Nuggets.

I agree, Carmelo will never reach the LeBron, Kobe, Micheal class. Ever/

Not many players do. I don't see what's wrong with Melo not being in the LeBron/MJ class. That said, he's turned it on this year and might very well deserve MVP (which he won't win. CP3 deserved it last year and didn't get it. LeBron the year before. The MVP is almost always a year behind).
