I'm always hesitant to play two players who score the majority of their points at the rim together. Don't see a Howard-Faried pairing doing much to ease my concerns. I'll pass unless they're literally giving him away.

if we got faried - he could play the 4/5 and would make the perfect complement to our finesse PFs.

Faried was sitting with Lakers playing big also.

To me, the good news here is that the Nuggets have everyone on the table and are possibly already to the point that they are ready to make a deal. Morey needs a team or two to get to that implosion point to be able to get a real deal.

A concerned Rocket fan like all of us. You can disagree with Daryl Morey, it's ok:)

Could Fareid answer the rebounding issue?

I wonder if part of the Faried hate within the organization has something to do with his open support of the LGTB community and the fact he has two Moms. You hate to think that has something to do with it, but even when Jason Collins came out, there was more than a few NBA guys grumbling about it.

Is Faried actually an upgrade over Jones?

I think Faried was much more attractive before his contract extension. He's now making $12.5 million a year for 4 years which places him behind these PFs.

    Amar'e Stoudemire at $23,410,988
    Blake Griffin at $17,674,613
    Zach Randolph at $16,500,000
    Kevin Love at $15,719,063
    LaMarcus Aldridge at $15,256,000
    David Lee at $15,012,000
    Derrick Favors at $12,650,000

Personally I don't think he is worth $12.5 mil today - maybe in a few years with increased ceiling on salaries, but not today.
...of the guys I think you could actually get(obviously, Duncan, Nowitzki, aren't going anywhere), I think this becomes Houston's strategy with a gaping hole at our PF spot:

Not ideal - limited complementary skill sets, but solid players on relatively short term deals:
David West @ $12mil for a short term contract of 2 years(let's see someone call Dwight a name again with West backing him up!)
Paul Millsap @ $9.5 mil but his contract is out after this year(what will he make in the open market this summer?)
Brandon Bass @ $7 mill for 3 years. Movable contract because he is an above average player at a below average cost. How much above average is debatable, but he doesn't make you worse.

Ideal guys - complementary skill sets at reasonable contracts:
Ryan Anderson - $8.5mil for the next 4 years - the stretch 4 we have been looking for
Channing Frye - @ $8.5mil for the next 4 years - a stretch 4, high basketball IQ guy albeit he is much older(31 now) but a vet on this team wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
Taj Gibson @ $8mil for the next 4 years - doesn't have stretch 4 range, but a decent enough mid range and low post game and a solid defender at the PF. He combination of skills and contract make him desirable.

...I don't think we have enough to get a player from the ideal category, but I think those "not ideal" guys are all in play depending on the price.

Faried is 1 way with no 1 on 1 D, and does little for spacing. Definition of not what we need

We need someone who will defend the 4. Why not Faried?

David West would be awesome, he'd perfectly match Dwight's self-containment to outright punish the other team.

Faried is a glorified T Jones.

Ya, I like West - he is a warrior down low and has that dogged confidence you want when trying to tough out a rough game. He's still a bit undersized, but he makes up for it a bit with strength.

...he could be available if the Pacers have any concerns about George's health. When George returns, West will be playing the last year of his contract so you start having that "what value can we get out of him if he leaves" conversation if your Larry Bird. Indy hasn't panicked though so maybe they don't make him available after all.

Maybe because Faried doesn't defend the 4. He barely defends at all.

Yeah, the guy has a high motor, runs the floor, gets a lot of rebounds on the offensive glass, but that doesn't mean he's playing high quality defense.

Teams blow him up on a nightly basis. He's not stopping the LMA's or Dirks of the West.

If the Rockets can get Faried, they should make the trade, but keep in mind that they are making the trade based on enough data that shows Faried will make a dramatic leap forward on both ends of the floor to complement his hustle and athleticism.

If you are trading for this Kenneth Faried as it, you aren't getting great value for your supposed "3rd star".
