Meh, I just think the guy can play and want to see him play. Whether it is unlikely or not is a opinion tied to if you think he can play or not. I think he can play so I think it's just a matter of time before he shows everyone what he can do. Considering I was replying to a guy that said Morris froze up...but I'm sure you think Rookies should be ever consistent and upon their first 4 minutes of NBA playing time should explode for 6 points.
I just think Morris can play. It really doesn't go beyond that. I hope he gets the chance to play here or I feel he'll do well another place.
At this point, I think the goal is to find players with the most potential. Morey has done just fine finding role players. Morris may never reach that potential with the Rockets, in part because Parsons has been so good and you would expect him to only get better. We'll see, but I'd still rather have Morris.
I understand why we took Morris, and it's nice to take risks when you know you can get a solid rotation player for chump change (Parsons, Bud)- although I still would have taken Vuvecic.
He can. He hasn't gotten a real chance...you know 30 mins or so. A lot of unwarranted criticism in a thread that had nothing to do with Morris in the first place.
1. This is weird season without much practice time between games, especially true hard practice time. 2. Karl will be in Denver until he retires. He knew the players coming back, what they had, how they fit, and did not have to change his system. 3. Denver started the season without multiple big-name pieces who were in the CBA like Kenyon Martin, Winston Chandler, & JR Smith, plus had to endure long stretches of the 1st half of the year to major injuries to Affalo, Danilo & Nene. When your list of available players get thin, you have little choice. 4. There was 2 weeks of preseason without any off season workout programs or practices for rookies and new coaches, like Morris and McHale to actually work on things and for Morris to figure out what he was going to asked to do and work on. 5. McHale had 2 weeks to get the starters and major players to learn his sets and systems, much less figure out how to use Morris, Parsons, Lin, etc. 6. Parsons was a 4 year senior who had figured out how to play, and was not assured a spot on the roster so he went to play in Europe because he did not know if he would even be on the team this year. Not the case for Faried or Morris who had guaranteed contracts. Yes, given all that could Morris have still beaten out Parsons for the SF spot and been as good as Faried or even Leonard? Maybe, but should not be a given/end-all be-all by any means. Some players need that practice time and summer to understand the NBA & defense and some can do it without out. If Morris does not use the summer to get better and return next year with something to prove, then you can start talking about bust. Until then, hold off. Even when the pick was made, we all knew it was risky. It was one of the first times Morey when with a high risk, high reward selection. But it was still the right thing to do. If Morris has had become a go-to scoring SF elsewhere, ya'll would have never forgiven him. If anything a "solid" borderline all-star like Faried or Leonard would not have put the Rockets over the hump.
