The Constitution explicitly states that State Legislatures control districting, not panels.

One might could argue the state legislature can abdicate their authority to a panel (a dubious assertion), but the panels created by referendum/ballot initiatives are clearly unconstitutional.

Roberts mocked the majority for claiming The Legislature actually means The People.

    https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/13-1314_3ea4.pdf

But lefty judges always start with the political/policy outcome they want and then find the best legal pretense available to achieve it, however dubious it may be.

Now that the insufferable Kennedy is gone, perhaps the ruling will be different. Who knows how Kavanaugh will rule.

Who is arguing against redrawing district lines. District change as populations change.

What is wrong is parties in power re-drawing lines with the sole purpose of maintaining their political power. Both parties do this. But even worse, when the parties in power redraw lines to maintain their power AND in the process unfairly restrict the voice of minority voters.

it's gonna be armageddon when RGB dies (and if she has metastasizing cancer, don't see how she makes it to Trump's 2nd term)

Questions of right and wrong are immaterial. Constitution vests power to create districts with state legislatures, period

This is my favorite. States are forced to draw majority minority districts, lest they violate the voting rights act.

But if there are too many minorities in a district, then you've over concentrated them, and that is also deemed racist.

You're a morbid strange fellow. I will so enjoy voting against your hero again, who won't see a 2nd term.

Not surprised that a hyperpartisan republican wants extreme gerrymandering, but as I said before, both parties have been known to redistrict to maintain control... what needs to be stopped is when one party goes to extremes to gerrymander. And gerrymandering has been found to be unconstitutional.

Multiple sources tonight tell me this woman is not even in DC, but in New York and preparing to step down from the Supreme Court.

And you ready for what will ensue? pic.twitter.com/PPF5K7o6EQ

I can't imagine that being true unless she is expected to die. I mean, there's no way someone like RBG would step down knowing Trump and the Republicans would name her replacement. That said, she has missed work for the first time ever, so perhaps her impending death is on the table.

It may not be true. But I saw the quote, so here it is. We will see if it is true, soon enough.

it would make it less likely that they would even attempt to make the trip. If there's little to no chance they get in, why would they risk it in the first place?

Wait. So now the GOP strategy is to get folks to feel sorry for the migrants? What?

it's just talking about other people who suffer due to the unsecured border that Democrats are ignoring in order to oppose measures to secure the border. Measures they once admitted worked.....and history has shown works. They need to pretend that an unsecured border is perfectly fine due to orange man bad politics.

Its their disingenuous "plan B" for when their "massive invasion" justification for trump's vanity wall doesn't work.
