It was a horrible mistake becuase, camby was a giveaway by the Clippers. Furthermore he played great for Portland last year AND while the Thunders may or may not have been experienced enough, they did take the lakers to 6 highly competitive games despite having a front line of Kristic and Jeff Green, both of whom played horridly. And to your last point about flexibility and waiting for a younger player... Camby was in the last year of his contract, acquiring him with their cap space, would have not in anyway affected their flexibility in anyway, unless they chose as portland did, to sign him to an extension. Furthermore if they had chosen to sign him to an extension they still could have traded for Perkins this year in the same deal and not have to sign Nazi mohammed. A frontline rotation of Perkins, Camby and Ibaka sounds great to me, especially considering both their injury history.
