I hate how Maxiell got T'd up. When someone throws you to the ground what kind of reaction do you expect from another person? Are you just going to pretend like nothing happened. Maxiell did not deserve the technical. He's reacting the same way a normal human being would react.

I wouldn't object to him being suspended. It was a flagrant foul for sure. Where I differ from some of the other people here is that I'm not crying about it or talking about how Maxiel's career could have been ended. You would think Perkins pulled a Kermit Washington on Maxiel based on the comments here from other members.

Since when did a flagrant foul suddenly become such a big deal in this league?

I think Maxiell is a legit tough guy. I'm sure he could whoop Perkins ass even though he gives up 3 inches and 20+ pounds. I hate how Garnett pushed Maxiell. If Maxiell turned to KG and squared up I bet KG runs like the beeeeeeeeeeotch he is.

I don't like the Celts and their fake toughness, but that really isn't something to cry over.

What Maxiell did right before that foul happened wasn't such a clean play either. The guy he cleared out of the way to get that rebound could've easily gotten hurt as well.

Are you telling me that when you headlock someone like that and then bring them down while trying to go up could not be career threatening if he landed wrong? We aren't talking about some ordinary guy pulling this guy down. Perkins is a strong bulky guy and a move like that could hurt someone.

When you can injure a player, to me that's a big deal.

I agree with the sentiment that it was a bad foul, but I can't see how KG did anything wrong. He and Rasheed put their arms out to break up the altercation, not to hit anyone.

FYI: being born in 78 don't exactly make you a vet. You can tout your machismo all you want, but you'll be singing a different tune if you were on the receiving end.

It looked like KG pushed Maxiell, when he was engaging Perkins. If KG were to stop the fight, he would have stepped between the JMax and Perkins rather than participating in the shoving.

Those announcers suck...Unfortunately, being in Boston now, Im forced to listen to their crap quite often. I can honestly say that the level of homerism they display is rather disgusting. It really makes me want to pull the hair out of my end.

BOSTON -- Kendrick Perkins was fined $10,000 by the NBA for a flagrant foul on Detroit's Jason Maxiell that led to the Boston Celtics forward to be ejected on Friday night.
Perkins said Sunday he would not appeal.
"I think it's right. I think justice was served," he said. "I can pay that fine."
Perkins was ejected in the fourth quarter of Friday's game between Boston and Detroit after being called for a flagrant foul with 5:56 to play and the Celtics leading 70-65.
Perkins pulled Maxiell to the floor by the neck while Maxiell was trying to put back an offensive rebound. Maxiell got up and shoved Perkins, and was given a technical foul, while Perkins was called for a flagrant-2 foul, which brings an automatic ejection.

seriously, I am more pissed off by KG's act than by Perkin's flagrant foul.

    1. Maxiell is known as a strong guy who can leap. It is acceptable to use force to prevent that from happening.

    2. Maxiell is not in the air. You know this grab won't cause an injury.

But with Garentt, there really is no call for him to push a guy to try to bring the situation to another level.

I think the general hate on Perk from this thread is out of jealousy.

Yes, that flagrant definitely deserved a fine, but I'm surprised by the general hate for Perkins in this thread. Didn't realize he was so many posters' least favorite player.

I generally don't watch many Celtics games, but from what I've seen, I wouldn't mind having Perkins playing some of that thugball next to Yao.

If you were the BB commish, you'd just lost one fan.

This is Basketball, not hockey, not boxing, not wrestling, nor the WWE.

Defending thugish behavior is not becoming of you, Dave_78.

Did you even see the Washington-Rudy T's incident? Do you know why it happened? Kermit was spooked when Rudy ran up behind him. It was because of the enviroments and the hard fouls and fights. When hard fouls are commited and not dealt with harshly, the players tend to take it upon themselves to fight back. It starts with pushing, shoving and accelerates to fist fights. Flagrant foul became such a big deal because of incidents like those.

Perkins is one dirty player, don't call him tough though. Kg had to defend Perkins a bit, by giving him a light shove.

    Maxiell is a beast though
