I can't believe that this load of utter BS has gone unnoticed all day. Enron didn't "contribute" a dime to build MMP. What a repulsive liar you are. Of course, one WOULD have to resort to lying in order to rehabilitate the image of a scumbag like Ken Lay.
So some crimes don't make someone a bad person according to you. He is a criminal. It is odd that you rail against illegal immigrants who do a lot of actual work toward improving our society, and may only be here because they are running away from an abusive spouse in Mexico or something. Yet they are rotten scum, criminals, and Ken Lay is a poor misunderstand saint? Talk about holding different people to different standards. Lay was a convicted Felon who cheated people out of millions. I just find it odd that the criminal that you sympathize with is the one who let a pampered luxury existence and not the one sweating and working for a better life.
Just because I don't care for him doesn't mean I'll be popping a bottle of champagne when he dies. I'm sure he thought he was doing alot of good, and he's really intelligent. I respect his rags to riches story.
omg i just saw this posted on another forum.. kenlaylives.com Its kind of sad that somebody is profiting off some guys death like that... what is America come to... vicious capitalists
Can someone quantify what investors lost in the Enron collapse? Do Enron employees have to start over on their retirement savings?
??? That's a great thing, doing whatever you can do to make a profit, i salute the owner of that site.
Enron employees were encouraged to keep nothing but company stock in their 401Ks. Many of them put lots of money into their options. Retirement accounts were frozen for regular employees but not for executives. Executives dumped their stock, and by the time the retirement accounts were unfrozen the Enron stock was worth pennies on the dollar.
Here's the headline Drudge had that I was talking about earlier in this thread: The fine folks at www.gawker.com were able to capture it before he took it down.
I'm not a liar you troll. Now, the Astros had a thirty year lease from the Sports Authority at 7 million a year, and the stadium's public financing portion was financed with thirty year bonds and only covered slightly more than half the costs. If Enron didn't offer up the 100 million this ballpark would not have been constructed. You can remove your foot from your mouth now.
The second quote was from astros.com. The first quote with the $100 million figure was from thestreet.com.
the $100MM was for naming rights. how long did enron have its name on the stadium before it failed. and even if it was for construction, that's enron that paid for that advertising, it wasn't a freakin donation.
Exactly, they didn't pay the money because they love the Astros and wanted them to stay in Houston, they paid it to get their name on the stadium. Nothing less and nothing more. And as has been mentioned, spending other people's money isn't that big of a deal.
Yeah I'm sure the Astros would have never been able to find anyone else to buy the naming rights. Plus, the construction on the stadium started long before naming rights were an issue so it isn't like the Astros were going elsewhere unless Our Lord and Saviour Ken Lay bought the naming rights FOR Enron.
