Griffey isn't implicated in taking steroids because it's quite obvious he never did. He has pretty much the same body type as he did when he was 20 and he would have been able to come back from his injuries much quicker if he was juiced. And Griffey was viewed as a total jerkwad for half his career by much of the press. You are right that he never approached Bonds level of complete jerkwadness though, although no one really ever has.
A-Rod might hit 800 homeruns...he's 30 years old and has 442. Pujols is 26 and has 226...could make a run as well.
Griffey never was and still isn't a media favorite. Just last month he went on a "do not talk to the media" strike.
please, the only reason? get bonds' nuts out of your mouth. he's practically doubled in size since he came up. griffey is slightly bigger but hardly the freak show bonds became. i think he'll get to 600 but he's too old/injury prone to get to hank.
That is true, that Bonds has gotten bigger, but Griffey has become more injury prone over the years. That is evidence of his steroids use- using the same line of thinking.
I think there will never be an outfielder who "can do everything" and also break the record. Well, not until they invent something legal that can prevent injuries. All these guys with enough competitiveness, passion, and drive to go out in the outfield and go all out...make diving plays constantly, giving up their body into the walls, etc.. they're spectacular, but that is what will eventually be their downfall. Griffey Jr and Edmonds are the first 2 that come to mind in the line of guys who give up their body in OF, and they're breaking down now. I mean they can last for a while...but not long enough to break Aaron's record. And they won't tone down that intensity cause it's not in their nature
I thought steroids were supposed to make it harder to get hurt, that they make you heal quicker and such...I thought Jr. just got fat...
