Trading season resumes after the regular season ends, with some restrictions After the trade deadline has passed, teams are free to make trades again once their season has ended, but cannot trade players whose contracts are ending or could end due to an option or ETO. Playoff teams can trade players during the playoffs who are not on their playoff roster. regarding the 1st restriction, that’s one technical reason why Paul had to opt-in as part of our trade for him.
This is the type of trade that Ainge doesn’t make cause he grossly overvalued assets, this is a win, win for both teams. And while Presti has become a master of draft pick hoarding and pulled off some great deals I still wonder what the endgame is for the Thunder, they have to do something with those picks. (Presti still prob feeling the pain of trading a future MVP for a bag of stale chips)
Big boy Brad, make big boy moves. As coach, he probably got tired of trying to load manage Kemba and make him fit in the lineup.
Wow great win win move. Kemba is pretty close to retiring IMO, that hip is baaaad. Moses brown can actually be something and for the short term, Horford at least replaces Tristan Thompson who supposedly caused friction in the locker room. Presti adds another pick to his war chest for cap space they couldn't use anyway and the Celtics would've probably blown that pick on another Aaron Nesmith so they don't mind trading it for cap space.
Thats because OKC's window isnt even open yet so they can afford to wait. Presti is the best at it but you'll see a lot of these types of moves done: 1. Jrue Holiday for 3 picks 2. Vucevic for Wendell Carter Jr, Otto Porter Jr and 2 3. covington for Clint Capela and FRP 4. Covington for 2 FRP As they said in the financial world investing is transfer of wealth from impatient people to patient people. I guess the same thing applies here.
Serious question. Would y'all consider this: John Wall + make picks owed to OKC in 2024 and 2025 fully unprotected + one of our other FRPs this year for Kemba Walker and return this year's pick swap to the Rockets, meaning we get to keep it regardless of landing spot? Is number 5 player in this draft worth that much??
So if our pick does land in the top 4 we just traded John Wall, a 1st, and two future unprotected 1st for Kemba?
This is why Presti wasn't fired after losing both Harden and KD. This dude is out of this world when it comes to acquiring assets and flipping them. He's generally good at drafting and scouting as well. Obviously, he still hasn't won anything but asides from that, he's done the best any GM possibly could and this isn't even including they could have our pick this year.
I don't know what Brad Stevens goals are or what his timeline is, but... for someone in his position. It seems like a weird move to make right now.
