For the uninitiated, this is from CitySearch The walls may be plastered with old gas-station signs and other vintage paraphernalia, but this is no intentionally retro operation. The feel is genuinely informal and unstudied--a real joint, if you will. The most notable of the famous burgers is the Squealer, a real artery-clogger riddled with ground-up hickory-smoked bacon. One sporting refried beans has its fans, too. Onion rings and cherry Cokes are specialties. Drinks are served in old Pace picante sauce jars, big and cold.
My wife is a huge fan of the bean burger, but I don't like it. A "99", the wine one, is very good. I've had a number of those as well. Easy trivia question.....What is a "198"? The tostadas are good, and the fries are huge. But the onion rings are the best. If you can't decide between fries or onion rings....get the combo.
This thread is killing me right now. I need food. The Bean Burger rules!!! A "198" is a double "99". More trivia: what is a "bombshell"?
Yeah. She's dead but her onion rings are fantastic. I don't rate the squealer. I like the stomps and then the 99. The chalupas ain't bad though.
