Normally it always feels like the team can make a comeback even with 1 minute left they try, they didn't have any chemistry or anything going since the 2nd q.
Our D is one size fits all. No pre-game adjustments to defend against opposition strength. Our PnR defense varies with different centers. Too many switches (=lazy defense) and become fully exposed by opposition coaches. So many times Dwight switched on ball handler and was scored upon. This is god awful game plan even Igoudala will not improve much of our perimeter D. Sampson only talks the talk.
Sampson said defense is on the players. Sampson is the defensive coach. In other words, he's just doing daily reports.
Wow, then I guess you and I all could be in his position because "defense in on the players" anyway. All we need to do is just to collect our paychecks and do nothing.
That's what he said in a Friedman interview. Defense is about playing hard, wanting it, etc cliche stuff just like McHale's clap clap clap move the ball stuff. Imagine if Thidobeau just clap clap clap and tell Carlos Boozer you just need to want to play defense to be part of a great defensive team. Or Jeff Hornacek clapping the Phoenix Suns to a mini-resurgence.
