Good call! Or Cato should write some more children books, and specializing in painting rainbow on purple vans to not waste his talent!
Wow. I really can't believe what I am reading in this thread. It is great though. What a difference a year or a Yao makes. I singled out polypheus' quote because to project Cato's stats over 48 minutes is misleading. Cato could not, would not and should not, have 36 rebounds in 48 minutes. Furthermore, according to ESPN, he is averaging 19 minutes and 7.1 rebounds per game. This projects to almost 18 rebounds per 48 minutes. More realistic, but still not going to happen. Cato is playing well. However, I believe that the reduced minutes is a factor. He knows he is going to get generally no more than 20 minutes in any game unless Yao is in foul trouble. He can afford to give it his all for that period of time. Fatique hardly has a chance to set it. In addition, I think the presence of Yao has provided some additional motivation for Cato -- another reason for his improved play. One other point. Cato scored all those points in the GSW game. Cato, though has never been a great offensive force and I do not think he will become one. I do not expect him to be a regular in the offensive save the occasional dunk or put back. I am just happy he is doing well and contributing. After seeing his play over the last few years, I am not going to ask him for more than he is doing now.
This is almost exactly the same as the Yao's talents are being wasted so we should trade Yao to Sacramento where they will utilize him well thread. I think Cato's doing super as a backup with lots of energy on the glass. I'm glad he's still motivated. Maurice Taylor is the odd man out now. Which is doubly bad because he's under long term contract and the guy we don't have under LTC is outplaying him. Too bad MT has almost zero trade value.
Can you look at your crystal ball again, tell us why Cato has not been peaked yet at his age, when Yao has already peaked at 22? :confused
Now, that tells you don't know much about bball. As good as Cato's blocking ability, he is nowhere near Bill "the Elbow" Cartwright's defense, let alone the offense. Do you know that Cartwright was a starter for the Knicks when Ewing joined the NBA? The guy was an all-star then.
cato's talents are not wasted. that just means we are deep at the 5 spot. what if YAO gets hurt? either way we need him. he can play on the court the same time as yao like against the spurs or lakers or other big teams think think think!
I don't see any reason why we can't play Ming and Cato at the same time for certain matchups. Our twin tower can block just about anything in the lane.
Can u explain how cato can still improve but yao has peaked after 20 games???? Polypheus, why dunt just be honest n say u friking hate yao ming instead of posting stupid stuff to make a fool out of yourself
i cant edit my last post but this is what i forgot to say , bill cartwright was better than rik smith so in another way u are saying cato is better than yao ming???!!!
