Agree, watching Deke slap rebounds, and move like a glacier in the low post has been painful, but at least you know he's giving it all he has.
Cato is reasonably OK and we should take a look at him. Let him work out and see. He used to be lazy and unproductive but I remember there was a year (first year I think) under JVG, he was unbelievable and played very hard and very well. All the fans was then amazed and started to like him.
"Somebody tell Kelvin Cato, WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK!!" Haha but seriously, it'd be kind of funny to see Francis, Cato and Yao on the same team again.
hey where is the butler dude we cut in the begining of the season? we gave mike harris another shot and it turned out good, let's roll the dice on butler and see what will happen with him
Harris and Landry and even Scola any of those individuals is better than Cato Cato was a brute force to protect Yao, that's all, any of our current guys can develop into that
0 I have the feeling that Butler is over 300 lbs with a spare tire around the middle. Cato is better than Butler.
This move would be purely for insurance reasons. Deke is our only legit 7 footer and he can only play 20mins a game. We need some size out there. We were getting killed on the inside. Hayes is undersized, Scola and Landry are average rebounders at best.
You guys are talking about adding a player (that, IIRC, wouldn't be playoff eligible). Who do you cut?
They are far far better than Cato in terms of ability but in terms of height, they are on the short side. The Rockets have not so much missed Cato per se but what Cato brought them: True size at the 4 spot with the ability to match up with centers if need be. They have never replaced these abilities after trading Cato to Orlando. It wasn't until this year when Morey picked up Scola that they FINALLY addressed the gapping hole at the 4. But all of their frontline guys are under 6-10: Scola at 6-9, Landry at 6-7 and Hayes at 6-8 and it was only a matter of time before this caught up with them (I'm not mentioning Novak because he's a situational player at best).
