So currently the Rockets are going to be playing without Cato, Taylor, and Weatherspoon? A slide from playoff contention is all but guaranteed if these guys miss significant time.
If those three have "serious" injuries that aren't just from being banged up some and needing to miss a little time, then maybe we all need to pay more attention to your signature. (or mine)
Cato is a strange bird... JVG loves his hard work and hustle, but cringes at the fact that Cato can't hit a 15ft jumper if his life depended on it. Hell, forget 15ft. Not even a 5ft jump hook off the glass. If Weatherspoon was 3-4 years younger, he'd be starting. At least CW can hit a 15ft shot, and actually has inside post skills. MoT would be PERFECT for us if he could play the defensive side and rebound. Oh, well. At least MoT has returned to form as he did in his rookie season with the Clips. 11ppg/47%FG.
when is spoon and mo expected back? i know cato has to miss at least 5 games now. also why did we pick up a pf when we only have 1 center on the team? and why did we pick up a guy that probobly cant play more that 12 minutes when he is gonna have to play at least half the game at the 4 (splitting with padgett) and give yao a rest at the 5. thats gonna be around 36 minutes a game that we need him for. i hope we have another guy comming. otherwise we are in big troble.
MoT is expected to play against the Warriors, while Spoon will miss a few more games. Cato, on the other hand, will be undergoing intense rehab, and may or may not be out longer than 5 games. But 5 games is the minimum. Cato slipped in the pool and hurt his shoulder, then worsened it in the Phoenix game. I think all 3 will be safely back before the playoffs.
More from the Chronicle... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HoustonChronicle.com -- http://www.HoustonChronicle.com | Section: NBA Basketball March 18, 2004, 11:27PM Cato out five games with injury from fall By MEGAN MANFULL Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle Forward Kelvin Cato was in rehabilitation for back spasms Sunday when he slipped in the Rockets' exercise pool and injured his shoulder. He played through the injury Monday, but the pain worsened in the following days. Cato was placed on the injured list Thursday after undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging. MRI results showed that he had further injured his left shoulder, which has bothered him for the past two years. Rockets trainer Keith Jones said Cato will focus the next week on rehabilitation in hopes of being able to play during the final month of the season. "It was kind of a freak thing," Jones said. "He was walking down the steps in the pool and slipped. He reached out with that arm to grab the rail and hurt his shoulder. He had a rotator cuff strain, and he just worsened it a little bit. We're going to back off for a week and rehab it." Because Cato was placed on the injured list, he will be out at least five games. The earliest he can rejoin the team will be March 28 at Milwaukee. Cato is averaging 6.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.37 blocks in 65 games.
does anybody really think he really slipped and hurt himself "in the pool". sounds like b.s. i thought i only heard that one on cops. probably did something stupid.
ANSWER FOLKS, well it was Cato and surprisingly often Spoon or Mo. So now I gues it will be Spoon, Mo or Oak.
Mo and Spoon are already injured. There's no point putting Cato on the IR instead of Mo and Spoon to sign Oakley instead one of those two. Cato must be injured.
You'd like that, wouldn't you? Have you seen how much space is between us and 9th place now, btw? There's no way the absence of these guys could hurt us that bad. Besides, the most talented one, Mo Taylor, will be playing.
IMO every time cato put his hand over the shoulder during time outs and subtitusion is just fake please people
I really hope that he'll be alright in time for the playoffs, he gives us alot of strength and size up front. I will also miss his alley oops from Steve every game .
