Thanks Kelly for all the fun and excitement you brought to this team during your brief tenure with the Rockets!!! Evan Mobley appreciates you keeping the seat warm while he finished up his college career.
I'd be more motivated to keep Olynyk if we take Mobley.... Wood is the more obvious player to move on isn't he?
A smart team would start Mobley at Center and Wood at PF. Both guys too skinny, but Wood can shoot the 3. Top five defense with Mobley, Wood, and Tate as our starting frontcourt.
How does Wood over Olynyk improve the defence? Wood is horrible defensively at either the 4 or 5. More likely to get a return on assets from Wood than Olynyk? And Silas seems to have e really nice sets for Olynyk offensively. Not too fussed on it all to be honest - but not sold Wood and Mobley would be a strong match up. Might be wrong!!
Honestly, I think getting the top 4 pick makes Olynyk a little more likely to stay with the Rockets. The trajectory is now up and the Rockets want to start building a competitive team that doesn't set their incoming prospect up for failure. If we had missed out on the high pick we'd still be in no man's land right now waiting for our first lucky break, and the tank would still be full steam ahead going into 2021-2022. There would really be no point in signing Olynyk. Not saying the Rockets would or should sign Olynyk. I just think winning the lottery makes it slightly more likely and sensical. I also think the Rockets will not take Mobley and therefore will need a big man anyway.
Just played against a team in my rec league called The Kelly Olynyks and 3 of these weirdos had the Olynyk long hair, headband and dirty goatee look going on And they beat us... goddamnit
What's your pick up play style, @WestendMassive? that call me the Lebron of the blacktop in Sugarland Tx.
Kelly Olynyk was better in Silas’s offense than Wood. Similar points, similar rebounding, but much better ball movement. He was an excellent big man passer. Had a couple double digit assist games. Was not a ball stopper. That guy fit like a glove here with what Silas allowed him to do. He should’ve stayed.
Back in the day I was a Lamar Odom-type point forward Now that I'm old and slow I'm more of a Chuck Hayes/Luis Scola hybrid lol
We should have traded Wood on draft night for 2 future first, re-signed Kelly, and let him mentor/split minutes with Sengun. It made too much sense.
