You are right about his minutes. It is a lot more than 3.6. Those are stats from last week so I believe the correct minutes should have been 33.6.

Check the first post for the most up to date stats. Kwame opened up the season with monster numbers but has since trailed off quite a bit. Remember he had something like 23 points and 18 rebounds in Washingtons first game. I beleive he also had another game of 13 rebounds. Overall Kwame's play has been good but it is definitely on a strong downward trend. If you own stock in Kwame Brown then sell! ;)

BTW I got the stats off of ESPN this week instead of NBA.com just because their stats included last nights games.

I just have a quick suggestion. Maybe instead of updating all the players stats every so often, it might be easier if you could possibly use a different method of "tracking." It's kind of hard to look back and forth from the beginning of the post to the bottom (to compare the stats.)

I was thinking more on the lines that it would probably be easier to use "+" and "-" rather than having to post similar stats week to week. That way we can just look at whether a player has a "+" in a few stats to see if that particular player is improving.

Hey, if he's willing to do the extra work, let him :D. Adding a + or - next to the stats would be an additional benefit. It's too bad there's no graphing on this things, cause you could do this all in graph format and it'd be pretty useful.

oh and crash if you wouldn't mind could you maybe type up a little weekly periodical of all the young big men with color photos, game reviews, and maybe a section called crash's takes or something, 12 font, times new roman, front and back cover laminated would be fine with me. and send me a few extra copies in case i wanna make some money selling them. you know, if it's no problem.

I was thrilled with Eddie's shot selection against Portland. He only put up a couple of threes, and hit a variety of low-post shots against Rasheed Wallace.

The Rockets need to keep posting Eddie up. This guy is getting good.

I'm not sure I am seeing this "variety" you are referring to. Eddie seems to be a little better at not getting his shot blocked this season, but every post up shot he takes is a turn around jumper just like last season. I keep waiting for Eddie to show off a hook shot of some kind, but he never does.

From ZRB's perspective, at least EG is taking turnaround jumpers from different spots on the floor. Sometimes he goes baseline, sometimes he goes towards the paint, sometimes off the galss, sometimes not. And, the 3 pointer doesn;t seem to be neraly as important an aspect of his game this year - although it still remains a potent one. Then Griff get's a few points here and there of offensive boards/putbacks, dishes in the paint, etc.

I think it is illogical to expect Griff to develop a jump hook, pump fake/up and under move over night. The improvement in his turn around jumper on the post-up, to me, is impressive for one offseason. He is a player who would really thrive after going to one of those good bigman camps. Learn how to fake a defender in the air, learn a jump hook, he'd be money.

I do like the fact that he has put some wrinkles into his turn around jumper...but if that is all he does when he posts up, I can't ever see him being a real offensive threat. I don't think I am expecting him to develop a jump hook overnight. He had all offseason to work on something like that, and it is not as if it is a completely foreign idea to him. He did it occasionally last season. I as well wish he would attend one of those big man camps. I wish the Rockets could find a way to make those mandatory.

42% of EG's shots last year were 3's. He is down to 22% this year. He hasn't shown much variety other than his spotup j and the turnaround j (which he has hit from different spots), but the jump hook, drop step, etc. will come, especially after he puts on a little more weight and muscle.

The most awesome facet to this thread.....and it's a great thread....is that MING is so much better than all of these guys. I love GRIFFIN and he's a huge part of our future (and current) success, but MING is INCREDIBLE!!!

I love being a ROX fan!

    Nice thread Crash!

Hey what is up with Wilcox? LA Clippers making another bone headed pick (where they already had Elton). They drafted 2 PF in the first round.

I just don't think that they can afford to give him many minutes. Brand is the starter and with the Clippers struggling they cant afford to have a 20 year old rookie making mistakes.

The latest update to the thread has been added to the 1st post. This time I left the previous upadate in the 1st post as well so it would be a little easier comparing their progress. The current weeks stats are in black and the previous weeks stats are in red.

Both Kwame and Eddie seem to almost the exact same and both seem to be struggling a bit now. None of the 20 year olds are really standing out I guess this is to be expected but I was hopping for a little more from Eddie Griffin as far as f/g%, f/t% and rebounds.

Here is the update to this thread as of 12/14/02

It is clear that the big kids are starting to fade, particularly Kwame Brown and Eddie Griffin. However it is starting to get increasingly clear that one of the kids is not more of a man than the others…Amare Stoudemire. This guy just keeps getting better and better. He is almost averaging a double double for the month of December with 13.7 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. He is starting to look like the steal of the entire draft even as a late round lottery pick. Amare is the number second best player in this draft IMO. He barely 20 years old and playing like a warrior in the paint. Looking back on the draft I would have given any of our low post players on the roster at the time to draft him and that includes Eddie Griffin. Of course hindsight is 20/20.

For me the big disappointment this year has been the play of Eddie Griffin, although he has been better with lately with limited minutes IMO. Rudy T did everything he could to make Eddie the starter but Eddie just could not step up to the challenge. I fully expected to see Eddie doing all the things that this year that Stoudemire is doing and then some. I am willing to lower my current expectations of Eddie and give him more time to develop though. Eddie could still become an all star power forward but he is clearly light years from that goal now.

Perhaps as his play continues to become more consistent he can work his way back into the starting line up and possibly start showing some of the things towards the end of the season that I think he should be showing now.

I will update the list on the first post just as soon as I can.

Here is the list as of 12/14/02:

To any Economist or Buisness professionala (or students):
Lets bust Excel out and keep a graph chart on these players. I'd do it myself but I'm in Buenos Aires.;) ;) ;)

You can see some graphs of Griff's progress on my site:

    Eddie Griffin stats

I don't have any non-Rockets players being tracked, but I'm going to have a look at adding more players, to see how possible it is (at the minute all the stats on the site update automatically. I don't want to make more work for myself!)
