Since Morey has until the trade deadline to find a starting PG, ie should they still require one.

Morey likes the second ball handler to be a SF. In the meantime, take the wait & see approach. We'll soon discover what kind of help Dekker will bring in that department this season.

A back up PG is needed before opening night. One who can play the traditional set up man role to alleviate the ball handling duties off Harden.

    Marcelo Huertas.

I still think he's worth at least a training camp invite. The Rockets were rumored to be interested in the Spanish PG Victor Sada a few years ago. Another similiar and unheralded athletic player with very good defensive abilities. If the interest was genuine it suggests to me a back up player only has to have one two or two skills they excel at to be useful on a NBA roster. Plucking talent from obscurity. Pat Bev says, "Hi".

Morey has spoken in the past about full MLE signings turning out bad for teams more often than not. No need to be impatient and lock in mediocre talent for a few years they can't easily move when he's actually proven he can turn flexibility into talent upgrades.

we might be the only team w/o a real pg, even a 3rd stringer. rockets really need to get one. and bev should be looking to work on his pg skills

I could get behind Sergio Rodriguez. If we're going to run with a 2nd unit of KJ/Brewer/TJones or Smith/Capela, we will need someone that can manage an offense.

A Euro playmaker will cost us the MLE too, and even if one agrees to a Dorsey like contract, then you will end up with Dorsey like production.

Dekker isn't considered to be a passer by the Rockets.

There is huge denial on the OP's part. A good MLE PG will have some trade value in the future, with the increasing cap room.

A veteran like Mo Williams is likely going to be 80-90 percent better than a Euro backup PG.

If we can get him for the vet minimum, I am all for it.

Would be great if we could get John Legend for the vet minimum. That would solve a lot of issues.

That approach didn't exactly work out last season. There's nothing wrong with waiting to see what materializes. Training camp is 3 months away. But we cannot go into next season with Bev as the starter and Terry as his backup(and we may not even have him if Dallas steals him away). Morey needs to do something before October. We've already missed out on a lot of free agent options, so it's looking like a trade is the only way to go.

The Rockets don't need a PG is starting to sound like the Texans saying they don't need a franchise QB. Or worst than that the Texans have a franchise QB!!! Morey don't be like those guys!!!

yessir. no free agent worth a damn wants to play PG for ~$6 mil/year (and that's assuming we let Smith and KJ walk). Haven't seen every signing but, of the ones i have seen, not a single one has been in our price range. Morey's trading for our guy.

    nothing new.

Yea just piss off the best player on the team and ignore the need for a true PG. Beverly bounces the basket ball like it's a bag of rocks on the court. Great 2nd stringer but we still need a 1st stringer at that position that can make open layups, pass the ball, make open shots, create off the dribble...ya know, like what true point guards do

You want a PG... have Harden work with Beverley everyday this offseason until he gets it right

pass on these Euro dudes, wouldn't trust any of them against good competition, much less good competition in the playoffs. echoing others, mo williams would be a good pickup if he could be had at the right price.

    any other FA PGs available?
