Do you think Portland is happy drafting Oden over Durant? I thought it was stupid at the time and it is looking even more stupid now.

Dude come on... KD is great and is on fire with his shooting efficiency, but he doesn't really do anything else to help his teammates. He has a lot of growing to do. LeBron doesn't have to score or shoot the ball well to help his team win.

    LOL

You guys crack me up that put Brandon Roy in the same sentence with Kevin Durant. Brandon Roy is 4 years older, shoots worse from 2, from 3 and from the ft line. Durant scores more, blocks more, steals more and rebounds more. The only thing Roy has on Durant is assists, and that's a byproduct more of the surrounding team than anything.

We may as well compare Mitch Richmond and Michael Jordan.

Give Durant 2 more years and he will onl have one peer in the league, and that will be Lebron James.

It's r****ded how easy Durant makes it look when he barely turned 20 a few months back. He will average 35 points per game at some point in his career.

Only Lebron will have had comparable numbers at a similar age of any of the guys mentioned on this thread. McGrady was a role player, Bryant was fighting for minutes, Brandon Roy was at Washington.

I just want to save this thread so that we can separate the people that know what they are talking about from the guys that like to hear themselves type.

If I were Durant I would leave in a heartbeat. And you are right, the NBA has done a poor job of "managing" Durant career, thus far. He is pretty much at the same level as Kobe and Lebron, he's team just sucks.

Somebody needs to wake up David Stern.

I am really hating the NBA's marketing as of late. If it wasn't for the Lakers I would not watch the NBA anymore.

They HYPE Lebron SO much. Now they are hyping Dwight Howard so much, and Chris Paul so much. For example the whole Dunk contest was the Dwight Howard show.

Granted all of those 3 players are great and deserve recognition, but the NBA talks about them ALL the freaking time. I don't mind the Kobe talk as much since I'm a fan.

I just wish that NBA would give more recongnition to more of it's up and coming young stars like Durant.

    Just wait until next season

    pg-Westbrook
    sg-Durant
    sf-jeff green
    pf-blake griffin???
    c- Tyson chandler

Durant is gonna get the recognition he deserves when his team is in the playoffs, they just need a good pf and all the bench pieces will come over the next 2 years in the form of 5, yes 5 first rounder. Add all that with a college styl enviroment in OKC and you're gonna have the next Delta Center as far as places you don't wanna play.

hell Blake Griffin would be a monster there but Jordan Hill or Greg Monroe would be nice fits at the 4 there, either way the west better be on notice onw hats being built there.

I think the Thunder are best served by playing KD at SF and Jeff Green at PF instead of KD instead at SG and Green at SF. I think they should draft a big, talented, athletic SG to fill out their starting lineup. To an extent, Westbrook, KD, Green and the new, athletic SG could be interchangeable on defense and they could be devastating at switching on PnRs (like the Warriors did a couple of years ago) and have a lineup that would be hard to keep up with. They would need another couple of big bodies to add to the rotation off the bench so they could match up with bigger teams. They could switch KD to SG and Green to SF when needed. An NBA cannot be successful long-term with a complete small-ball roster like the Warriors tried.

I know LeBron says KD should be a full-time SG but I disagree. He should swing between the positions based on the SG/SF/PF matchups that would favor he and Green. IMO, SF/PF favors them more often than SG/SF.

Blake Griffin might be a nice addition to their team because of his interior scoring and post play but a big, talented SG would help more.

Definitely a scary thought. I personally think OKC will be a better team faster than the Blazers. They'll probably reach the playoffs next year, and start being a contender a year or two after that. They already have Chandler, KD, Green and Westbrook. Add Blake Griffin to that group and there's your lineup for the next decade or so.

Well that sucks. I was really hyped when I thought they were going to get Chandler in that trade. Here's hoping they get another star player in this year's draft.

A little bump for this thread. Because my main man Durant had another great game last night while helping his team defeat the Spurs in San Antonio.

He had 31 points and 8 assists while having his usuall accuracy shooting from all over. He has become one of my few most favoite players. I wish I could watch him on tv more often.

As of now, the Thunder have the 5th worst record in the league. If they end of with the 5th pick in this years draft, they could either go for a SG or a C. That pick could be Thebeet, Derozen, or Hardin.

I personally think that Derozen could be a good fit, because he is a big SG, taller than Harden. They could be really good next year.

Haha, not bad at all. However, I'm still liking the "Durantula" moniker that one of the bloggers on Yahoo Sports gave him. Fits well with the aforementioned long arms.

    Brandon Roy >>> Kevin Durant

Brandon Roy puts up very good numbers as well as lead his team. Kevin Durant is awesome and I am a fan of his game but Brandon Roy is much better. There is only one statistic everyone needs to look at.

    Brandon Roy=Playoffs
    Kevin Durant=Lottery playoffs

Brandon Roy is certainly better NOW... but look long term. Roy is more than 4 years older than Durant - Durant is only 20! The kid is practically unguardable as it is, and he hasn't even come close to reaching his peak.

And while Roy is an astonishingly good player, to say he is better than Durant simply because Portland will make the play-offs and OKC will not seems a little short-sighted to me. Durant's playing with a rookie point guard in Westbrook who, while full of potential, still makes tons of mistakes each night. At the same time, OKC's bench is one of the thinnest in the league. Roy, meanwhile, has a seasoned, steady point guard in Blake and a complementing roster that is often lauded as one of the deepest and most talented in the league.

Just give Durant another lottery pick player (OKC has been excellent lately at player evaluation) and a couple of top of the bench free agent signings and this comparison already becomes much closer. Give Durant these and then a couple more years of improvement, and I think that you'll be changing your tune.

bump. I know there is another more recent Kevin Durant thread. But this is my own thread about KDur and is the original

I also know that there are a lot of Thuder fans on this board. So it makes us happy that the Thunder are now 2 - 0. I know it's early, but they are realy coming together. And go look at Durant's numbers, they're awesome.

    Keep it up, Thuder.
