I know. But he's a coach. Coach 'em up! Hauser and Pritchard already know how to the thing that Ime can't teach them.
Haha dude you know Portland has less violent crime than Houston right? And that's before you ever get into the likelihood of dying in a car crash, which is far higher in H-Town. Portland is actually pretty safe for a big city. Don't believe everything you see on Fox News
They have to throw in another 10m to make it work, but if possible I would do it straight up for Herro. He is a better fit. I think all the dreamcasting for Ware in a KD trade is amusing.
Or ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN for that matter. Lawsuits being settled continuously. All national media sucks. The only possible exception is c-span. Most large cities have a problem. What is the most obvious thing they have in common?
Think about how lucky we got with KD staying healthy all season and playing at an all nba level on heavy minutes. If he had gotten injured or if there had been any real drop off on his performance, his value would be completely shot, and we’d have no choice but to continue down the road we are on. But we got super lucky. We have a chance to pivot out of the KD experiment and recoup some decent asset value. Let’s not gamble that away. Betting on KD to stay healthy and perform as well as he did this season is not a good bet. Walk away from the table with some money in our pocket. Do not get drunk at the table, hit the ATM, and go back to the table.
Even gave us a perfect excuse to trade partners for why he didn't show up in the playoffs too. "Freak injury, knocked knees with a two-way guy during practice, could happen to anybody." One shot, mom's spaghetti, and so on.
Here's a deal that I thought about after remembering that Cade and KD have a tight relationship, and that Detroit owns Minny's 2026 pick, #21. The player return here will seem underwhelming, but there's a case for it. DET In: Kevin Durant HOU In: Duncan Robinson Caris LeVert Paul Reed 2026 #21 pick 2028 DET FRP The key is all three of the Detroit guys are expiring contracts next season who are pretty much surplus for DET, but each would actually be useful for us in the rotation: Robinson as a real wing shooter, LeVert as an on-ball guy who can dribble, shoot, and defend multiple positions (coming off a really bad year, tbf), and Paul Reed as a more impactful version of current Capela. We'd also cut ~$10M in salary for next season, giving us space to keep Tari and stay far from the tax. Reset expectations around a young core + a better development environment + extra draft picks + cap space next summer + addition by subtraction via shipping out KD.
maybe in the suburbs. That certainly wasn’t my experience dodging meth heads and heroin addicts there. Although I’ve only been there once and it wasn’t for long, so probably didn’t get the best impression to be fair.
this is a really well thought out proposal. I didn’t know Cade and KD were tight, but I did know that Detroit badly needed an elite shooter. KD is actually a perfect fit with Detroit. I’m not excited about the draft pick compensation though. They will both be picks in the 20’s. I’d rather have one lotto pick in 2026 than a late 2026 and late 2028 pick. If Detroit was willing to throw in Jenkins I might be persuaded.
Yeah if you watch their podcast together it's pretty clear they would be very interested in playing together. . Re: draft picks, I agree, however there's gonna be trade offs in any KD deal. Personally I think I'd prefer #21 and a pick in the 20's in 2028 combined with somewhat useful players on expiring contracts and being able to keep Tari vs. pick #10 or #11 combined with taking on bad money that won't contribute on the court and blocks us from keeping Tari. Part of that is that I don't see a huge difference between picks #10-14 and pick #21 in this draft. And part of it as that, no matter what path we take, we just need more playable players with a diverse set of skills - which isn't really feasible unless we break up a big contract into smaller ones.
All big cities have dangerous areas. The media exaggerates based on their political bias. Fox will say they are all horrible and the rest of the media will downplay the danger. Just ask locals where it is safe to go.
