It definitely should have been a tech, but after seeing how much Poppovich got away with when he shouted at the refs for 1 minute straight and McHale get a tech for saying something on the bench (most likely where's the three second call or something of that nature) then you know it's more than superstars getting favoritism. McHale was a superstar and he's widely known around the league. Let's just put it lightly and say the refs have a motive each and every night.
